Large Hooked bird feeder

I have a flight cage with seven rabid parakeets. For a long time, I've kept two food trays in the cage. The birds would fling food everywhere. There would be a thick pile of uneaten food at the bottom of the cage and a ridiculous amount of seed husks on the floor around the cage and strewn about the room (even though I wrap the cage like a mummy using five seed guards). It was so bad that I had to vacuum the entire floor of the room every day. I was surprised to find so few options available to solve my dilemma. Most of the hooded parakeet feeders are designed to attach to the outside of the cage. This creates a couple of problems. First, the feeder needs to be the same width or larger than the side door that must be opened to provide the birds access to it. Second, if a feeder is attached to the outside of the cage, then this will compromise the use of any seed guards. Beyond these considerations, most hooded feeders allow birds to enter the box holding the food and defecate in it. This creates a lot of food wastage. This feeder solves all of the above problems. I bought two feeders and placed them in my birds' flight cage. So far, the mess outside the cage has been enormously reduced though not entirely eliminated. Whereas I previously needed to run a floor vacuum around the room, I now just need to vacuum in one area at the base of the cage using a cleaning attachment. There is no better feeling than frustrating a bunch of angry, messy birds! The trays that catch the seed husks filled up partially after two days but were easy to empty. My only potential concern at this point is that the birds could chew the feeders since they are inside the cage. However, my birds never chewed the plastic food dishes that were in there previously. In totality, this feeder is pure genius. Parakeets are violent, filthy animals, and this feeder is designed to counter their bad behaviors. If you are dealing with multiple parakeets in a single cage, then I highly recommend buying this feeder.

This feeder was the perfect solution to making birds could be fed long term while on vacation instead of someone checking on them daily while we were away. I even use it as just a daily feeder and they found it no problem. The one downside is that it is cheaply made just in terms of the thin plastic that bends a bit easily. But honestly- you cant beat the price and functionality. Overall, I love it and recommend it as an everyday feeder or something to feed them while you’re away!

THIS IS A GREAT NO MESS FEEDER- I would give it 10 stars if I could. no exaggeration. does exactly what it says. I bought 1 to try, for 10 days, because I was skeptical. almost ZERO waste of seeds. I have tried several no mess feeder that did not work out. these are for my parakeets. 14 in all in a large cage. some like to get in the feeders an dig. they cant do that in these feeders. anyway, I bought 2 more an will buy 2 more soon. bought the medium size. from what I can see these would work for lovebirds an cockatiels. I am very happy. this will save me a ton of money on food.

Poor design and cheap execution. The parts don't fit together snugly so the bottom kept falling off. A small plastic part snapped off the minute I assembled it. The seeds don't flow down into the eating location. My birds popped off the top and just ate from there and crapped all in their food. Waste of money.

There is a good video review about this feeder on YouTube. I bought two of these. I did widen the opening a little bit with my dremel so that the seeds drop a little quicker. I was having to push the seeds through before I modified it. This feeders have really helped to simplify caring for my 4 parakeets. Would buy again.

Poorly made with cheap plastic and molda for the product are obviously wore out. Item came damaged but this was most likely due to Amazon poorly packaging the item in a plastic mailer. I need the item today due to inherenting a couple birds or I would return, for now I'll just super glue it and hope for the best.

Works great. Cuts down on the mess. The catch basin could fit a little tighter. It slides off very easily when removing to refill.

My 9yo lovebird (Patrick Bateman) loves to make a mess - something he's succeeded at for the 9 years I've had him. I recently moved and finally had the epiphany there *must* be something to save seeds and keep my floors tidier. I was afraid he wouldn't take to it, but a tempting spray of millet was enough to lure him in. I've gone through infinitely less that I normally did in a bowl, and hulls/waste on the floor are down by 95%. I had no issues attaching the feeder to the cage, and found the materials perfectly sufficient. Great value - just wish I'd gotten one forever ago :)
