In the past, I've used tea pots that either had a plastic or metal strainer. I've learned that the plastic strainer contains BPA, which is an endocrine distruptor that can mimic estrogen when it leaches into hot drinks. The metal strainer is safe, but it leaves my tea with a slight metallic taste.This is the perfect solution to both of the above problems. No BPA (because it's glass, not plastic), and it leaves the tea with no off flavors. Just clean and natural... the way I like it.I also like that it has a glass cover. When steeping herbal teas, some of the nutrients and/or medicinal qualities can be lost when the steam rises.
