Nice Case With Some Glaring Design Issues

*by G***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 25, 2015*

Moving up to this case from my original Phantom. This case is huge and very nice but there are some serious design flaws that keep me from 5 staring it.In order to access the upper fan area on top of the case it has a system much like the one on the first Phantom. However there is an issue caused by all of the LED hardware because it closes off most of the cut out section that allows for pulling off the top facade. I have to grab what little area was there and then also pull up on the side light strip housing area in order to achieve enough lift to break the factory fitting of the plugs on the upper section. I also had a slight issue getting the front off when some of the tabs would not push far enough to unlock. Some extra pressure made them pop out without having to push them tough. The mounting options in this case are HORRIBLE. If you plan to use a custom water loop be prepared to either modify the case or go with an unconventional approach as there is no room to mount any EK D5 pump top (and possibly any other aftermarket pump top) correctly. I had to use some double sided adhesive foam along with twist ties to secure my D5/EK PT/Bispower MTZ250 setup as the mounting holes do not line up for either the mounting plate of the EK top or the retention clasps of the Multi-Tank Z 250. Likewise the fan mounting situation up top is equally bad. Instead of giving you a lot of room to mount a 140mm fan, you have maybe a range of an inch to an inch and an eight. If you plan to do a dual radiator set up this means that both will not fit along the top and the back panel interior where the rear case fan is. I had to mount my 140 rad on the exterior rear fan grill which has lots of mounting options and use the fan to pull air into the case from the inside through it.Edit: I managed to cram both rads into the case but I had to rotate my 280 rad 180 so that the inflow/outflow were right over my MTZ250 then run tubing from my mosfet water block to it and then from it to the MTZ250 which was a VERY tight fit though no hose kinkage. From the CPU to the 140 rad was the hardest to get with that rad being bolted onto the rear fan.I would like to note I am using 45mm thick rads. Finally the drive mounting system. For the love of god do I not like what they went with. The drive pays are super flimsy and are prone to running out of their tracks making them uneven and hard to remove. The amount of distance the go into the housing also means that you have to do some creative work connecting a drive in the bottom of the bay. This is the middle set of bays I am talking about as I completely removed the bottom one to make room for my pump.Everything else I have to say is good about this case. From the inclusion of an 8-pin cpu extension cable to the popped out rear side panel for cable management. NZXT has managed to make their Phantom case even easier to work with and added in even more features and some really nice stuff like the LED interior and exterior lighting. This case is a massive case, much larger than the original Phantom and I was able to fit my parts in with plenty of room, for the most part. With 45mm thick rads things are a tighter fit near the top but that would not be a problem with normal sized rads. You won't be able to fit a Monster AlphaCooling rad in the top in some configurations (like going into a mosfet water block).

Gorgeous case for any PC Enthusiast!

*by E***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 13, 2016*

Bought this for my younger brother since I promised him a new rig. It's been an excellent choice for the both of us.The case is massive and gorgeous! It's a bit taller and longer than my Cooler Master HAF X to put it in perspective as to how large it is. I only emphasize this for those who don't have enough space for a large case or for those who prefer a smaller case, it's not a con for me. I currently have a Gigabyte GTX980Ti installed and I still have enough space between the card and the HDD/SSD section. The cutout for the CPU cooler bracket is perfect (my major complaint with the Cooler Master HAF X) and makes CPU cooling installation frustration free. Good amount of grommets for custom liquid cooling and a lot of cutouts in the back for cable management and NZXT is nice enough to zip tie some of the case's cables already which was a nice touch. It comes with the HUE built into the case which is another nice feature and the knob present next to built in the SD card reader. Another very nice plus to the case was the button to turn on an LED for the rear I/O panel. Very nice touch for low-light conditions if you have to mess with your inputs/outputs.I also installed the Corsair H100iv2 as the CPU cooler which was painless after figuring out how to remove the top panel. There wasn't a manual or a diagram with the case or anything so I had to look it up on NZXT site which wasn't an issue so I won't knock off points on the review for that. Front comes off easy as any case, the top comes off just by pulling it upwards from the front. The top has pre-drilled holes for the pre-installed fan and optional secondary fan as well as a radiator if you're planning on dropping one in like I did.The only cons I have about the case are the fact that the top fan turned out to be bad and the screw pack that it comes with was missing screws (more specifically screws for the motherboard). Came with three screws total, thankfully I had spares I could drop in. The only thing I don't like about the case is the design for the USB top panel. On NZXT.com (or mostly everywhere for that matter), you will see an attached soft rubber cover for the top panel USB ports. Unless I have a weird one of out their batches, mine doesn't have it so that it's attached to the computer. It's literally a soft rubber cover that comes completely off. It's not a deal breaker but definitely something I find odd and slightly annoying about the case. All in all this an excellent full ATX case that I don't have an issue recommending to anyone who wants something large enough to store all the components they need while looking pretty sweet. Quality case for a pretty good value, in my opinion. Highly recommend!*A friendly heads up: The case comes with three USB headers so if your motherboard doesn't have enough, I would highly recommend an internal USB header expansion. Phantom 820

*by H***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on April 3, 2014*

Cable management on this tower is superb. Plenty of room inside to move around and fit just about anything without taking the skin off your fingers. Sleek design and the general overall look is very pleasing. This is a big tower and quite weighty. I chose to go down the liquid cooling root with this particular build and found only the top panel to be a little bit of a struggle when removing. However, with a little care I was able to ease it off - slowly! and from the front once the front panel is removed first. If you're planning to fix a radiator into the roof of this case (I have a Kraken X60) there is more than enough space to do so. You can run any of three fan size combo's along the top. I used one (included) top 200mm fan and added another NZXT 200mm fan to draw heat from the radiator. You can choose any make of fan you like for this case - they don't need to be NZXT. Fan control system works very well too.Screw-less system works well. A little flimsy perhaps but the quality is good overall. The RGB lighting system is very cool - you can come up with a number combinations to suit your own style and make your case look amazing. I have no added extra lights or LED fans installed in this tower - no need (personal choice).Overall, I can't really fault this tower. Is it worth the extra?.... Everything works well and it has great build quality. It looks fantastic and you can hide all those untidy cables away so easily without any clutter. It's a very well designed, thought out system from NZXT. I think it is worth that bit extra if you're planning on a awesome looking rig.
