I weigh 500 lbs and have a heavy duty chair. This will be going on low pile carpet. Will this withstand the weight?

Most likely.  I bought this heavy duty chair mat about four months ago.  I weigh 420 and the office chair has 5 "legs" with the ball-type rolling wheels.  My carpet is either low or medium pile.  I really like this chair mat.  I does NOT "dent" at all.  I can see slight "trails" on the SURFACE of the chair mat but, when I touch the "trails" with my fingers, they are just surface marks, but NOT indentations/grooves.  The office chair rolls smoothly on this mat, unlike the previous vinyl mat, where the 5 leg "balls" made permanent indentations in the vinyl .... and then the chair wouldn't roll.  Also, the old cheap vinyl chair mat tend to "slide" on the carpet; I had to keep picking it up and putting it back in place.  However, with this Heavy Duty Chair Mat, I have NOT had a problem with the mat "sliding" on the carpet.  Just now, to verify, I looked down and saw that the mat is in the same position as when I laid it down, 4 months ago.  To tell you how much I like this chair mat ...  I just installed a second office desk and office chair in another room - and I just bought ANOTHER one of these Heavy Duty Chair Mats.  My only concern, at first, was that the chair mat was shipped "as is" (NO BOX), with just the protective film on both sides, but NO protection on the EDGES (where it was resting - on it's naked edge - on my front porch).  I was concerned, until I got it in the house and peeled off the protective films - and realized that the Chair Mat had survived the shipping process, undamaged.  Even with the "naked" shipping, this chair mat gets a 5-star rating from me.  Oh, I did NOT receive any payments or kick-backs for this review!

Do the wheels of the rolling chair depress into the mat?

No, the mat is thicker than a normal mat.  With you sitting in the chair, the wheels roll easily across the mat. They do not depress into the mat.

How do I keep my mat from sliding every day on the carpet?

Accepted Answer

I have a very soft cushioned rug pad under the carpet. The mat slips and slides under the office chair. I've tried double face tape on the corners of the mat and that hasn't helped. Now a small crack has appeared on one edge of the mat. I may try one of the methods others have mentioned.  It seems that the mat is not living up to its sales pitch. I suggest you research other products.

Are the measurements exact? I bought a mat from Amazon advertised as 35" width when it was actually 35 1/2".
