Another product the pros use.
if you have a 20 inch big blue filter, this will fit it perfectly. I used to work for a company that would replace one of these filters filled with about six bucks of charcoal and charge $139 dollars for the trouble. Unfortunately activated charcoal isn't as cheap on amazon as the pros can get it wholesale, but there is still a huge savings to be had there if you are the capable kind of person that can handle shutting the water off, draining the lines and changing a filter. I used to tell people that they were paying as much as they were for what they were getting because it was a guarantee that they wouldn't flood their house. I do recommend that you use some sort of food grade silicone on the rubber gasket if you are doing an annual change out/changing the media in one of these filters. That will keep things from binding up and keep your seals from leaking... if you are in doubt, watch a video. it really isn't all that hard...

Refill these yoursdelf and save!
These are good for carbon replacement, a cubic foot of Centaur is over $200 but you can fill about 6 of these with a cubic foot of Centaur if you also fill a few inches with KDF85 which helps with iron bacteria and is recyclable.

Good Company that sell the product (keep in mind they don't make the product)
The product arrived promptly. Good response rate from the company. The product was poorly packaged though, it came in a box that had brown flat paper packaged on one end and then bubble-wrap packed on the other end. This did not provide sufficient cushioning which resulted in a very small plastic piece breaking from the webbing on one of the end caps of the canister. I did not call the company to inform them of the damage because it was a very small piece and there was sufficient plastic webbing around it to hold the rest of the piece together. And also because I needed to use it right away and didn't want to deal with the hassle of return. At first I thought the canister would be individually wrapped but it was not and when I pulled the canister out, the first thing I noticed was black fingerprint smudges on the white side of the canister. It was not a big deal since it can be cleaned with soap and water. I figure the company probably buys the item in bulk which would have been wrapped but once they're broken into their individual parts, it won't be wrapped. Also, there was no instruction that came with it that showed which way to install it. This was solved by doing a quick search on YouTube, there was a clip on how it works of a similar product. Before placing the order, I was afraid the size/dimension might be different from my Big Blue filter, but this canister fits my 20-inch Big Blue housing perfectly. I do have some questions/concerns for the future: 1) This product comes preinstalled with a 20 micron spun-bonded polypropylene post filter (top part), this canister is supposed to be reusable, so what happens when the polypropylene gets dirty, how is it changed when it is attached/glued to the blue end-cap? 2) There is a rubber gasket/seal at the top end, once this is tighten, an indentation is made on the rubber gasket from the filter housing; so when it is time to change the media out, that gasket needs to be changed too, so where do you buy those at? Do they sell them separately? Overall, my experience with this product has been positive. The company, Applied Membranes, Inc. sent me an email offering their assistance because of what I wrote on their feedback. The fact that they actually read my feedback and offer to help in anyway, that alone made this a positive experience, and it made it less apprehensive ordering from this company again. Thank you.
