Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple Review: Helpful - Helps me a lot with school Review: Best resource by far. Diamond in the rough - Wasted a ridiculous amount of time trying all the classic resources (Amboss, Boards and Beyond, Physeo, Osmosis, Bootcamp, Sketchy…) and this book stands out from the rest by a mile. It’s much more intuitively organized. I felt the combination of organism, antibiotic, virulence factor, mechanism, relevant immunology and disease all under each bacteria (instead of by section of the book) worked much better for me. All the factors that are separated in the other resources are together and directly associated with the organism. I feel like I already understand the mechanisms of the antibiotics before I have even reached that section of the book, because this covers them so well under each bacteria. It is an easy read and very approachable. I find this book to be at a reading level more appropriate for the average person, not for a lifelong academic. I can fly through chapters without feeling that mental burden drag me down. The illustrations are funny and lighthearted without being cheesy. There is no extra fluff. The book really focuses on high yield topics without burying it in a huge pile of extra detail. Book is a lifesaver. I would buy it again, but sooner if I could. This book and series is made to “just get to the point” and make it straightforward. This is a diamond in the rough

Glad I found this book when I did
This text lays out the information you need to know about microbes in a very easy to read manner. I find myself enjoying reading and learning from the images designed to help recall. It has been helpful to use in addition to assigned lectures, and find myself first reading the appropriate material in this text prior to studying the lecture slides. It makes my studies 100% easier and I feel like I am retaining the information better as a result. I'm glad I found this text prior to boards. I'm sure it will be a text I will continue to cite in the future.

Great supplement - won't replace textbook
I got this as a supplement to Jawetz, Melnick, & Adelberg's Medical Microbiology textbook. It has a lot of high-value info condensed into short chapters. What I found most helpful (and that you won't get in a regular textbook) are lots of helpful mnemonics and drawings to help with memorization. The drawings look a little silly at first glance, but once you read the authors explanation, they are hard to forget. Granted some of them are a stretch - but overall very helpful. You could spend a lot of time trying to come up with your own mnemonics and memory cues, or you could get this book. I got an A in my clinical micro class, and think this book definitely helped.

Fun, accurate, helpful for MLS courses
If you are taking these classes you already know there is a ton of material, especially for the micro parts. This book has a ton of pictures, tables, and such to help you remember the stuff. This helped me a lot during my MLS courses.

Clinical Microbiology made ridiculously simple is a great book in terms of content
Clinical Microbiology made ridiculously simple is a great book in terms of content. It offers simple, concise, and easy ways to remember material. Most importantly, it tells you the WHY behind the things you are studying, which some review books do not do very well. I also found the pictures and diagrams helpful. My only criticism of this book, and it is what causes me to give it three stars, is that actually physical text has VERY weak binding. My copy fell apart after just a week of using it for my basic sciences class in medical school and I am always very careful with my books in general. I was very disappointed.

This is the best book to study microbiology I have seen so far. It makes understanding the learning matter super easy since e.g. the bacteria and their characteristics are illustrated with funny (memorizable) pictures and well written text. The difference between other books is that you can read one chapter and you'll have to lough out in between.. even though it's still about microbiology :) One might think that the quality of the given information might suffer but this is not the case! So if you are having trouble studying microbiology for e.g. your pre-clinics, this book is the right choice!
