I wanted to see if watching a video might give me some info I was missing in the books. So, I bought this video mostly for the instinctive part. My advise, with this video anyway is dont bother. Not only is the production value cheesy and awefull, the instructor is about as good as I am at instinctive shooting, which I consider pretty mediocre.It starts out with some stock footage of various animals in the wild, overdubbed by some music that sounds like someone hit the sample button on a 90's casio keyboard. this goes on for about 5 or 10 minutes for no reason. Then transitions to some "instruction" which is him talking about and demonstrating form, and giving reasons / excuses why his form isn't that good and why he keeps missing (which he does more often than not). I dont know about you, but when I am paying someone to teach me to shoot, I'd like them to atleast be margonally better than I am. He also keeps using annoying terms over and over again while he's shooting at a 3d buck like "what a dandy" and "right in the goody box" (when he actually hits it that is).The next section is him trying to shoot some areal targets thrown by an assistant straight above her head (I dont think this is safe) the disks are about a foot in diameter and he isnt verry far away, yet he misses every single one untill they cut away and showing him hit one (after a number of tries obviously)The info presented is less in depth than in the first fred asbell book, and thus I learned absolutely nothing new here. I feel confidant I could actually make a better video about instinctive shooting than this one.There is then a voice over saying were going to follow him into the woods for some real hunting situations, which turns out to be a single badly filmed and voiced over deer hunt, and unlike what he talks about over and over again in the previous section about stalking and ground hunting, this one is from a treestand in an area that is obviously his favorite. And yes, you get to hear him say "dandy" and "goody box" a few more times. In my opinion, with the kind of accuracy he demonstrated in the previous section, he shouldnt even be hunting.So if you want to watch a video of a guy that probably shouldnt even be hunting and certanly not teaching people to shoot, miss more often than not and demonstrate bad form, by all means buy this video.I gave it 2 stars because I also watched the compound section and it seems decent and informitive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Little Videos *by R***D on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 3, 2012* This video is a two fer.... basically you have two videos, but I don't think they thought out which two videos to combine together...1) Archery Mechanics is a good starting "Compound" bow video for those wanting to get into and learn the basics of compound bows to include choosing a bow, accessories, proper form, etcetera... This video is not for the "Traditional" bow hunter, shooter.2) Instinctive Shooting is a good starting "Traditional" bow video for those who want to learn ... tada... instinctive shooting. there is a lot of demonstration and discussion on this style of shooting. Now before the Pounders start crying foul and yes they too can learn to instinctively shoot... that's true, but 99.999 percent of Compound users have sights on the bow and they use them. Instinctive archery is kind of like point shooting with a gun.I gave this video a four because in my case I have daughters and grandchildren who all use compound bows, while I use a takedown which is more traditional. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Taught me a lot *by G***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 8, 2013* Even though I took archery in college and it is a neglected part of the martial art in which I have a black belt, I suck at archery. So I got this video to remedy the situation, and was not disappointed. The first video taught me about modern hunting bows, which I knew nothing about. The video is crudely made and features guys who are not slick or photogenic, but who know what they're talking about.The second video, "Instinctive Shooting", is why I bought the DVD. The guy is like something out of Kerouac's "The Dharma Bums". A Boddhisattva of archery, modest, unassuming, aware of his human frailties and limitations and yet enthusiastic about sharing the amazing skill he has. Again the videography is crude and amateurish, which is what makes it genuine and effective at teaching archery. There is no phoniness in either of these videos. No self aggrandizement. Nothing overdramatic.
