I put this splitter on my saw several months ago, and have found it to be very helpful. What I especially like is that it not only acts as a splitter to prevent blade binding, but also as an after-blade feather board, pushing the piece against the fence, allowing more accurate, straighter cuts, reducing saw marks and kick-back pressure, and adding a dimension of control you don't get when doing it by hand. Using it with a pre-cut feather board is optimal. It makes me feel much safer because I don't have to get my hands close to the blade. This feature alone makes it well worth the cost. The set comes with extra splitter pieces for various depths of cut, and they also offer additional sets for various blade thicknesses, so you may need to acquire additional zero-clearance inserts to accommodate the different options and to allow quick change. It is a little technical/time consuming to install, but the provided instructions are very specific, and done right, it is very effective. If it helps save your fingers, my review time will have been well worth it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Horrible directions, good product. *by E***7 on September 12, 2013* The directions for installation for this product are horrible. ( I have a college education and worked in tax law for 11 years so maybe you have to be an engineer to understand them; although I have to say it's hard to make tax law look easy in comparison.) Thankfully there is a video on youtube made by the company showing installation. I used that instead and the install came out ok. I say ok because one of the splitters fits nice and snug but the other one is a little loose which may be my error in using the drill. I did my best on the install but for some reason I am having to use the 3+ sided splitters because the holes don't seem to be offset enough from each other. Perhaps I should have used the regular kit even though I always use thin kerf blades.All of that being said, MJ products seem to be high quality and I like the ones I have and would like a couple more.One of the things not said anywhere I could see is that the install jig has storage on it for the drill bit and the extra splitters. I noticed that by accident when I was all done. I will continue to use these for as long as they last and by the looks of them it appears they may last through a couple zero clearance inserts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ very easy to install and adds safety to my saw *by J***I on August 23, 2024* I have a Rigid contractor table saw that dose;t have a riving knife installed. When making cuts that the provided guard does not really allow, but does have a splitter in it, I get nervous about not having that knife. I bought a wood composite zero clearance insert for the saw on Etsy and the seller recommended this ripper addition to address the lack of a riving knife.Bought the kit in May of 2024, and recently got around to needing to rip some wood for jamb extensions where the zero clearance insert would help. So I pulled out the kit and proceeded to work my way through the instructions, carefully making the needed cuts in the installation plywood (scrap from my "woodyard") and working with the instructions to set the splitters up on the insert.I did go back and read the instructions repeatedly while installing to make sure I was doing it right, but it all worked out perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Felt a lot better cutting the thin jamb extensions with this on the saw.
