Review: Works well on Mossberg 500/BYO rod to turn wrench - Worked well on my Mossberg 500(Montgomery Ward) 12 ga shotgun with 7 5/8” slide tube. I was able to remove the very tight nut to install an aftermarket forend. I had to move the forend further forward slightly, past the point where the bolt was 1/2 in the ejection port, to be able to put a thick screwdriver through the holes in the tool. I used the Mossberg end(which I marked with black Sharpie) and I assume the other end is for Remington 870. By using this tool I was able to avoid further disassembly of the shotgun to remove the forend completely, in order to access the forend nut. I was able to tighten the nit enough to move the very tight aftermarket forend as far as it was supposed to go towards the trigger guard. First, you need to remove the cap on the magazine tube, and remove the barrel, and then you can use this to loosen the nut that keeps the fore/pump/racker in place. Swap the the piece, and then reverse the process. I don’t know if my tool was defective, but it scratched up my tube a lot. (Others didn’t seem to have that problem.) If I were to do it again, and I will because I ordered a replacement tube, I’d wrap the tube with painters’ tape each time I used the tool. **Q: Does this fit mossberg 500 20 gauge** A: It will work on the M500 20-gauge, but it's quite a sloppy fit, so it's a bit of a PITA to use on the 20-gauge. But it will work in a pinch. **Q: Will it work on Mossberg 590M?** A: I don't have 590M, but it worked fine with shockwave. I don't really see any difference between how the forarms are attached! **Q: Will this fit the Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gusge** A: Everything on the Maverick is the same as the 500 except your trigger internals. The forend on an 88 has fixed rails that won’t pop out. They’re permanently pinned. This will take the tube off.
