Great Hand Warmer!
I bought this strictly to warm my hands while I play computer games. I see the pro-gamers at tournaments with those consumable hand warmers and wanted something similar without the consumable bit to it. This heat lamp worked out great! I keep it to the right of my mouse pad and aim it at my hand. I'm not too sure about warming food but it sure does a great job at warming up my hand. In the winter my hands get really cold and I shiver a bit but this heat lamp fixes all of that. After some usage I had some issues keeping the arm in the exact place I wanted to and that's when I noticed you can tighten the hinges with a flathead screwdriver. Also has some safety features that will shut it off when it falls over. There's only 1 setting and it keeps my hand at a comfortable temperature if it's cold enough. I don't know how useful it is at keeping food warm though, may not be warm enough to be worth while.

Good food warmer but...
This food warmer is good at the beginning; however, the hinges are not tight enough no matter how much you try to re-tightened the screw. It has a good safety feature when the lamp starts to slouch down, but would rather keep it on. It had to be at the right angle for it to heat food on the low side without slouching. After years of storage, the handle broke and is no longer useful for operational use.

Culinary BEEP Lamp
This thing was so annoying I'm going to write my first review. I was all ready to keep my hot foods hot with this thing. I took it out of the packaging only to find that the middle hinge between the two arms was too loose to hold the lamp up. It just flopped right back down into a sad and pathetic angle. I tried tightening the joint with a coin as per the instructions but nothing turned, the slot started stripping, and I actually bent a dime with it. The hinge still was too loose. My little bent dime is worth more than this product. If you want a heat lamp falling into your food, buy this product! I highly recommend this lamp if you want to enjoy the experience of sending it back.

Updated to pretty good!
WHEN I GOT THIS HEAT LAMP I THOUGHT IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS MADE WELL. HEAVY, ALL METAL CONSTRUCTION. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT WHAT IS NOT METAL IS THE SCREW DRIVER SLOT TO TIGHTEN THE ARM ADJUSTMENT. I COULD NOT TIGHTEN THIS THING ENOUGH TO KEEP THE ARM FROM FALLING DOWN. I ACTUALLY HAD TO EPOXY THE ELBOW OF THE ARM TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. WHICH MEANS I CAN'T ADJUST THE HEIGHT AT ALL NOW. THE HEAT OUTPUT IS MARGINAL AT BEST, SO I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS HEAT LAMP. Update 1/11/13: I have gotten this heat lamp to work pretty good now. I had to buy a wide blade screwdriver to tighten the arm adjustment enough to hold it in place. I've not really used it too much yet, but I believe it will be fine for what I will be using it for.

Great Culinary Lamp For The Price
I purchased two of the lamps for a holiday party where I had carving stations set-up. We had problems getting them to work (directions are a great thing, when you choose to read them!), but they worked out great! They are a quality lamp and not too heavy. They sat on table cloths decorated with material, but I never worried about the heat of the lamps burning anything. One tip- the lower arm of the lamp must be at its most vertical position to work. It's a safety feature. My lamps turned off once, but they had been moved back. Once corrected, they turned on immediately. They are also cool to the touch within minutes. Similar lamps I looked at cost three times as much and they were too heavy to move around. The Bon Home lamps are professional looking and the price can't be beat.

Arm does not stay up -- so annoying!
The heat lamp is great for keeping a cage warm, my lizards actually enjoyed the heat from this lamp better than the heat from the standard reptile bulbs. But the thing is too heavy to stand up and unless you have it in the exact perfect condition it does not stand up! I think the position in the photo, it would fall from that position!

If the arm adjustment were better...
I actually like this thing. My wife hates cold plates at dinner time and this seemed a good way to warm them. And, if you plan ahead a few minutes, it does a nice job. The lamp even has very good safety features, including a tilt switch which turns off the power if the unit falls over. My only gripe is that adjustment of the head could be better to permit the heat lamp to be parallel to the plate or food your warming at it's closest position. The heat from the lamp is not overwhelming and the head of the lamp needs to be fairly close to whatever is being warmed. While you can get the arms in a good position to do the job, the head remains tilted slightly up and away. Just a slight adjustment to the stop on the head position would bring it level with the target and give better results. Nevertheless, it is otherwise well made with safety as a key consideration and does the job (if not perfectly).

Screw broke attempting to tighten joint to keep lamp in operating position
Like other reviews, it arrived with the middle joint not tight enough to support the lamp. Since a number of reviews mentioned that it was just a matter of following the instructions and tightening the joint, I ordered it. Well, it arrived and the head wouldn't stay up. The directions say use a coin or screw driver to tighten it. It was already too tight for the coin (a quarter) to make any difference. So based on the slot size, I got a very large screw driver. But in stead of tightening, the screw just broke off. I'd guess, it was already cracked which is why the joint wasn't tight out of the box. 1/7/18: Just got notified of the refund credit and the notice that it doesn't need to be returned. Nothing more says the vendor knows this is a quality problem than not wanting the unit back for defect analysis. 1/12/18: Since I got a no return refund, the choice was to dispose of the unit in a eco friendly way or try to fix it. Fix it I did ... I drilled out the broken off screw and then tapped the hole for a 1/4-20 bolt. Pulled a 3/4" bolt and washer out of my inventory and bolted it together. I looked for the web site on the instructions and found that it no longer exists (web request redirects to gelpro.com). I'd guess the seller bought going out of business inventory and find it cost effective to sell the units and just refund the broken units.
