Beats struggling with pliers!
Wish I knew about this tool sooner! It won't work for all applications but for the vehicles it does work on, it's worth it.

For anyone who works on vehicles either for a living or DIY for family and friends this tool is an absolute must have for replacing brake cables. Takes a little trial and error but way easier than any other method

This tool works
This tool works. It doesn't seem like it would when you pick it up. Purchased for a 04 GMC rusty emergency brake cables. Worked great. Would recommend to anyone doing brake works. Makes a PIA job easy. Time saver.

effective for what it is...
obviously higher dollar tools would be much more precise or designed but this one is an ok, cheaper alternative...took some finagling to make it work since the holes for the cable retainer are a bit too big to crimp the prongs very tight...it worked in a pinch with the help of some pliers

Despite what some reviews said, this is a decently heavy piece of metal. Unfortunately, the diameter of the two openings is too small for my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander I bought it for. I have doubt though that it would have worked otherwise.
