I am retiring soon and want to get back into reading. This book is great, I've only got to page 30 and I already found several books that I want to check out.

If you don't know about all the greats, penguin usually has the best translation. I am on a classic binge. So, I found out about this book.

i adore this book. obvi, it's a great ref book, and beyond that it's just so lovely. the cloth cover is textured & the pages are glossy and heavy (not flimsy.) it's def going to be a book i buy for the holidays for others

The headline says it all. This generously illustrated book is a work of art in itself, and I'm discovering new classics to explore on every page. Also interesting to learn about the history of the Penguin Classics line.

The book itself is excellent, but the manufacturing quality of it may be sub-par. I had an entire signature fall out, but didn't return it, because I figure it not an isolated occurrence.

I came across this title by chance and it’s absolutely brilliant. I was lucky enough to find a pre lived copy for £10 and was delighted that when t arrived, it looks brand new. It’s a book lovers dream. Something to pick up and get lost in with inspiration for further reading which would see you through a lifetime. It’s just such a beautiful book to handle. The cloth hard cover is bright Penguin orange. Within, every page is packed with colour and detail. There are pictures of Penguin editions of hundreds of books and it covers the whole history of books and reading going right back to Egyptian times. I could sit ir hours wandering from one section to another, picking up inspiration and facts. I love it and I’ve ordered the recently published companion volume, Penguin Modern Classics by the same author. Eliot has done an excellent job of selecting titles and presenting a comprehensive history of books. Highly recommended and an outstanding gift fir any book lover.

Esto es una maravilla para los amantes de la literatura. Aunque, conozcas muchos libros, es muy interesante. Hablan de ellos y recomiendan muchos más. Lo que me gusta más es que esté categorizado por épocas y países. Muy buena calidad. En inglés. Altamente recomendable.
