Natural Point TrackIR 4 Pro Head Tracking System

LOVE THIS THING! I had this for a long while now. Used it with MS Flight Sim X, Elite Dangerous, DCS World, Star Citizen, and ARMA 3. It works great. No cons for what I used it for. Software is somewhat easy for beginners but there are a lot of major configuration options for the advanced. When I got this the hat clip was missing a reflector and it still worked for a long while till excess light cause a problem. I got in contact with Natural Point. They asked for the serial number and a few pics of the clip and the serial number of the unit it self and I got my new clip within a week.(Could have paid extra for faster shipping.) I know this isn't the one for sale anymore but the 5 pro is slightly better and is the followup to this.

Don't get me wrong, I love TrackIR, and I actually went with the 4 over the 5 initially to save money. The one I got may have been defective or something, as it was quite a bit jittery (there was no sun or anything behind me, even my 5 acts up when there's sun behind me), and it just wasn't as smooth or accurate as I'd like for my sim flying. I almost immediately returned this and upgraded to a TrackIR 5 a week later, and I couldn't have been happier. If you are buying a TrackIR now, and price is an option, by all means the 4 is servicable... but if you want smoothness and the newest tech, I would go with the 5.

I use this to play Wings over Flanders Field. Generally it's alright during setup... generally. But the amount of times I've been in a dogfight and suddenly my camera is looking 90 degrees in the wrong direction or I lose contact entirely makes me want to smash my monitor. Track IR is better than just using keys to switch your view around, but it's really dodgy and I've never felt as though I can trust it.

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is simply because there are a few minor bugs that I have yet to work out. This may simply be attributed to my unfamiliarity with the program. This may also be resolved by tweaking the position of the sensor slightly. With that being said it is fantastic when playing simulators such as IL-2 BoS. I would most certainly recommend this to friends

I purchased this to use for a popular truck simulator. The camera mount left a little to be desired. I had to tape it to my tv for it to stay. No big deal. The functionality is perfect. It allows me to be much more immersed in the game. Its much more natural to look where you want to go rather than trying to look with steering cameras, or blinker cameras.

If you're looking at this product page, chances are very good you've already done some research into what a TrackIR does. It's bad of me to be cliche, but you really cannot understand what it's like to be able to move your head and have it naturally correspond to the movement of your player's head inside the simulation until you do it. Tasks that require rapidly looking around a cockpit in an airplane become extraordinarily easy, and it frees up whatever control is normally bound to head movement, usually the numpad or an extra hat switch on a joystick. It may be hard to locate a TrackIR 4, mine came on the market gently used after I'd been looking for some months. Additionally, some fiddling is required with the settings, but it's easy and reasonably intuitive to set up the software to read your head movements correctly.

Was disappointed in the device because in the description it never mentioned that you had to be very close to your tv / computer monitor for the tracker sensor to pick up the PS4 camera, people have different gaming setups in their home (some sit close and some are far from their tv's) and the tracker description should have been specific on how far the maximum distance should be so the PS4 camera can still pick up the sensors on the tracker itself to enjoy the gaming experience.

What a change in my flying, allows a more natural scanning and looking around. I think it could be improved with a better clip to clip the reflectors to the head set but the software and the rest works well.

Von der technischen und bedienungsfreundlichen Seite her, ist der Headtracker natürlich klasse. Anschließen, aktuelle Software laden und installieren und im Prinzip ist das das TrackIR einsatzbereit. Die Software an sich ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig (ohne Mist: Den Saitek Profiler hab ich schneller verstanden), da sie allerhand Einstellmöglichkeiten bietet und den Benutzer im ersten Moment erschlägt. Hat man sich aber einmal eingearbeitet, lassen sich die Bewegungsprofile jedoch sehr gut individuell feintunen. Benutzen tue ich den Headtracker selbstverständlich hauptsächlich für Flugsims (Lock On / DCS A-10) und Open Free Space Projekte (WCS, Diaspora, Babylon Project). Funktioniert alles einwandfrei. Jetzt fragt sich der geneigte Leser natürlich, wieso ich TrackIR trotz all dem Lob nur 3 Sterne gebe. Tja... weil es keine wirkliche Alternative zu den Headtrackern von Natural Point gibt und TrackIR 4 & 5 nix für den kleinen Geldbeutel ist. Man findet natürlich viele Guides und Anleitungen zum Selbstbau eines IR-Trackers, aber nicht jeder hat das handwerkliche Geschick um so etwas selbst zu bauen und die meiste freie Trackingsoftware, die per Webcam läuft, funktioniert oft nur leidlich. Daher ist man als begeisterter Flieger auf Natural Point angewiesen und dementsprechend wird man zur Geldader gelassen. Davon abgesehen ist TrackIR 4 ein hervorragendes Gerät. Wüsste nicht wieso ich nochmal noch mehr Geld für die 5'er Version ausgeben sollte, wenn die 4'er Version so gut funktioniert.

Schnelle Lieferung! Zum Produkt: Warum kann man keine sechs Sterne vergeben? ;) USB Stecker rein, automatisch SW laden, Spieledatenbank aktualisieren und man kann praktisch loslegen! Klingt gut, ist spitze. Für ein perfektes Erlebnis, einmal F12 gedrückt wenn die Reflektoren richtig am Headset angebracht sind, der Sensor auf dem Monitor sitzt und man eine bequeme Sitzposition eingenommen hat, fertig. Kurze Eingewöhnung und man fliegt nicht mehr ohne das gute Stück!! Mit den heute üblichen 16:9 Monitoren reicht eine Kopfbewegung in Richtung der jeweiligen Monitorseite um im Cockpit in 90° aus dem Flieger zu schauen. Bei Elite: Dangerous die sehnsüchtig vermisste Möglichkeit dem Gegner jeder Zeit mit dem Blick nach oben folgen zu können ohne sich am Stick die Finger beim Umschalten zu brechen, traumhaft!!! Verrenkungen unnötig, selbst eine Sicht nach Hinten problemlos möglich, zumal ich Defaultwerte nutze!!! Einzig Deckenleuchter direkt hinter-über einem sollte man vermeiden, da der Sensor diesen als Reflektor erkennen kann. Meiner Meinung nach kann nur eine Endkundenversion der Oculus Rift dieses Produkt toppen, weil eben 100% "VR", zum dann aber dreifachen Preis... 100% Kaufempfehlung von mir! Grüße Horkrux

Super! Macht Spaß! Man gewöhnt sich sehr schnell an das Feeling, trotz der etwas wirren Eingewöhnungszeit. Es ist aber letztlich wie Fahrradfahren - selbst nach Wochen der Abstinenz (wie ich gerade feststelle) ist es absolut normal das Gerät wieder zu benutzen. Ich nutze den passiven Reflektor für eine Mütze. Wie bequem das ist, hängt von der Kopfbedeckung ab. Mich persönlich stört es nicht, auch an wärmeren Tagen und ich bin absolut kein Mützenfan.

Ich musste mich zwischen diesem und dem TrackIR 5 entscheiden. Jetzt wo ich dieses genommen habe ( da günstiger ) würde ich nicht das doppelte für das TIR5 bezahlen. Die auflösung und verzögerung ist gut genug für alle Spiele die es unterstützt. (von meinen 200 steam spielen sind es gerade mal 4....)
