Well made pouch.
Item is well made like all Maxpedition products. This can make a good pencil case, office pouch, or multipurpose pouch. I use it as a coin pouch. Zippers are easy to use. Good design and can be mounted. Good value.

Suitable for ophthalmoscope, dental kit, toiletries, fire-starting kit, as pencil case,...
I bought the larger of the 2 Cocoon pouches by Maxpedition. I paid $18.14 for the black version. The craftsmanship and utility earn a 5/5. The cheap black "paracord" which came on my black pouch's zipper pull is utter trash. This black option of "paracord" is fake and starts fraying within days of use. That's surprising, coming from Maxpedition, but not a big deal. My guess is that the OD and coyote versions have a different cord. I would purchase this pouch again. I like modifying my pouches anyways. My modifications (see photos): OD zipper pull cord that's much thinner than 550 paracord, Nite-Ize mini S-biner on top loop, and OD cord on bottom loop. These additions help me hold the top or bottom while I open/close the zipper. Obviously, the S-biner is for easy attachment if needed. An ophthalmoscope/otoscope, if disassembled, will fit snugly in the cocoon. This includes the power handle with C-cell adapter ring. See photo for specific style of my ophthalmoscope. A dental care kit will fit as pictured, with room to spare for mouth wash, etc. A multitude of writing utensils, including sharpener, will fit easily. I imagine a fire-starting kit (cedar pencil+sharpener=dry shavings as tinder) will fit.

Typical Maxpedition...
Its small, kind of like those pencil box things you may have carried in school. Speaking of which, this would be a great holder for your kid's pencils but probably a bit expensive for that. I use it t keep my computer cables and such in one place and keep it in my computer bag. NIce material, holds it's shape, durable and Maxpedition uses 1000 denier with a water repellent that helps keep stains off. Quality is typical Maxpedition, great. I've never had a problem with any of their products. I do wish that they had a better color selection though that is not a big deal. Maxpedition Gear Cocoon Pouch, Black

another great Maxpedition product.
Got this to put all my hammock rigging wich consists of 30' battlecord and two niteize camlock carabiniers. Works perfect and installs nicely on my pack. Easy access in the dark for hammock setup. I have transformed my Falcon II pack into a back country necessity with the help of Maxpedition and UST. With just a couple changes it goes from day fishing, to weeklong back country trekking. Don't waste your money on lesser quality. These bags and accessories are top notch and will last many years.

Great pouch for my glasses case, just wish it had an option for belt attachment.
I bought this specifically for carrying my glasses case. So I can easily carry and find my glasses or store them outside of my packs. Great construction from stitching to zipper! Only draw back so far is there isn't a strap or two on the back for belt attachment. There is a D ring and molle which is great for certain applications but I would like a version where instead of molle it had two, one and a half inch belt loops. Overall I recommend this product.

Too much quality/Too little flexibility
Have this attached to Hill People Tarahumara Pack for EDC and daypack. Good quality, but due to its toughness it is also rigid and nonstetchy. I can squish in a pair of liner gloves and liner face mask and a pair of ear buds which pretty consistently get in the way of the zipper, and the pouch puffs out rigidly instead of conforming to the pack webbing. It is obviously well made, but I had to zip-tie a portion of it (at the very bottom) to my strap in order for it to stay flush and tight and it didn't work out well for what I was hoping (fabric and corded gear). It works well for rigid gear like flashlights, ink pens, etc., but without any internal organization, I have found other pieces of gear that excel in those roles much better at a lower price point.

Perfect size for a million different uses
This is one of my favorite Maxpedition products. It's just the perfect size and shape for so many applications. I have 5 of these and use them for all sorts of things. Great Max quality, MOLLE compatible, can be stuffed with just about anything and fits almost anywhere. Definitely get yourself one of these if you're putting together a kit, going camping or doing anything outdoors. It is actually the perfect size for an emergency survival kit that you can throw into just about any bag.

As expected from Maxpedition, tought nylon material that can withstand abrasion. A little small in size, good for daily EDC items.

Like most of the products from Maxpedition this is a very well made product. Sturdy, heavy nylon. YKK zippers. Main compartment: 8"(L) x 2" diameter 1000-Denier water and abrasion resistant light-weight ballistic nylon fabric. Teflon fabric protector for grime resistance and easy maintenance I currently use this to hold coffee sachets and granola bars (in my backpack) for when I am out and about, I can only drink decaf and not a lot of places serve it, so this pouch is a godsend for me.
