New Pose Cataloge Men's Basic Pose [Japan Edition]

for artists (concept artists / illustrators) I would recommend this book. The photos are clear and book has both colors and black and white (for values) for the same poses. For each pose (e.g.standing), there are photos taken from different angles (at least 20) so it's very useful to reference when practicing various viewpoints. The model is also very handsome and the body type is toned with just enough muscles making the figure photos ideal reference for your typical / default male characters (think of male protagonist body figure of jrpgs) Just take note that since the book is divided into 2 sections , first in color and second in black and white, the poses are redundant for the second section. However, I still think that this book is one of the best figure reference books so far.

A good book covering a large range of different poses from different angles. The front half of the book is full colour while the second half of the book is exactly the same photos but in monochrome. The book itself is well made, soft cover glue bound with secure pages. The front and back covers are protected by a dust jacket. The pages feature one large photograph of the pose seen from the front and many smaller photographs showing the same pose from different angles including above and below. Despite the title this book is not printed in English which is a pity it would be nice to be able to read the tips and instructions found at the front of the book. My only other criticism would be that the smaller photographs are a little too small making it difficult to make out the details of the pose in some instances. Over all it is a very comprehensive book and I will certainly look at obtaining the other two books in this series.

The book is mostly intact except the cover. This issue could have been avoided if more care is put in packaging & delivery. I'm lazy to return so I'll keep this book.

素晴らしいポーズ集です。 しかし、圧倒的情報量ゆえに、一つ一つのポーズが小さく見づらい。 そこで、簡単に拡大できるkindle版を出していただきたい。 そうすれば、不満に感じている部分が全て解決します。 このポーズ集の第一弾の女性版のkindleは素晴らしかったです。 （個人的にはポーズ集に関しては、紙の本よりも値段が高くてもいいと感じています。 利便性が高く、それだけの価値があるからです。）

It's great as a reference! I being able to see the same pose from different angles is very useful to study the pose and having a section of the same pose, but in black and white, is great to focus on just the values. I'll also want to get the paired pose catalogues and I hope they will create pose catalogues with a stronger chiaroscuro!
