These smaller cans work for smaller jobs that need just a few ounces.
I've been a long-time user of POR-15 on my car's underbody and suspension parts as I live in the rust belt of the US. The smaller 2 oz. cans of POR-15 are perfect for yearly touch-up of components under the car to prevent rust, or control rust that has already started and needs to be arrested. I recently bought a 1998 car that spent it's life in WV and I used one 2 oz can under the car to cover most of the frame rails and the rear differential and a few axle parts. The semi-gloss black looks good. My experience with POR-15 is that it will stand up to the winter salts for 2-3 years before a touch-up is needed. Good kit.

Quality product
You know why it's expensive? Cause it's worth it. And don't get sucked into buying quarts or gallons. This stuff has a poor shelf life once opened.

Magic paint, make sure to wear disposable gloves - Perfect size cans
I rebuilt my brake system on my car and POR15 came as the perfect product to apply to backing plates and other protective shields after media blasting. Works very well, super hard and durable and nice finish. The paint cures and hardens very quickly, included in the can, which make this format of a set of small cans perfect for jobs where you cant do all your parts at once. Also, the paint is very liquid and tends to drip and stick to everything so make sure you work on a piece of cardboard or plastic sheet and wear disposable gloves, getting rid of it from surfaces including skin is a royal pain in the butt otherwise.

This is one of the best paint products I've ever used on metal!
I have used POR15 for years. In my opinion it is the finest Paint Over Rust product I have ever used. It lasts forever, it seems (if you don't believe me, just get some on your hands)!!! It must be used safely with a lot of ventilation, and hand protection (because if you don't wear hand protection, you will wear this stuff for weeks afterward), and don't overdo your first coat of application. You don't need to be dainty about applying it, but if your first coat is too heavy, it will run and not turn out as good as it usually does. I live in the Florida Keys, and use this every few years on my boat's nozzles when I redo my jet boat pumps. I also use it on anything metal that is exposed to salt air. Apply it like the directions say on the can, and you will be very very happy with the results.

A huge investment in time and labor, not worth it for the city dweller
Good stuff but truly a nightmare to prep for. I'm not sure I can say this feels like a real DIY product due to the massive amount of prep work. I can see it being useful if you're doing a frame-off restoration and you have a huge garage, but if you're trying to coat parts that are on a vehicle or around other painted/finished parts, you're going to have a hard time. The metal prep will eat up your paint. It will also destroy concrete, which I discovered the hard way when I missed a few drops that had spilled onto a drop cloth and cracked my garage floor. It's very difficult to get the prep stage done according to directions as you have to keep the parts wet with metal prep for 30 minutes straight, while trying to keep it from dripping onto painted surfaces, concrete, etc. The marine clean stuff has ethylene glycol in it, which is a toxic chemical found in antifreeze. Not totally sure where they get off saying you can just dump it in the grass. I did a section of my truck's frame in the yard, but I won't do any more of it without like a kiddie pool or something to put my truck in. Even then, I'd need a safe way to dispose of the water/chemical mixture. In my city, it is illegal to dispose of the prep chemicals other than at a hazardous material processing center, and then only in small amounts. More annoying is that after all of that, the sections I coated will need to be roughed up and painted over, because POR-15 is destroyed by UV light. I won't be using POR anymore, I'd rather use almost any other coating that is easier to apply. The rest of my frame and axles are now rubbed with a nice thick coat of oil that I'll be reapplying once a year or so. Gave the product 4 stars because all of this info is readily available if you look through POR-15's website and data sheets, and it seems to work as advertised.

POR-15: A Mechanic's Review for Long-lasting Rust Prevention
As a mechanic, I've seen my fair share of corrosion damage. That's why I was excited to try POR-15, a highly-rated corrosion prevention coating. Here's my experience after using it for months at work and on personal projects: Pros: Excellent Adhesion: This stuff sticks to practically anything! I've been impressed with its ability to bond to various surfaces. Durable Finish: The finish looks great and seems very tough. Versatile Application: While the product allows application on various surfaces, I recommend some prep work beforehand for optimal results and a longer-lasting, professional look. Overall, POR-15 is a fantastic choice for anyone who needs serious rust prevention. It's easy to use, highly effective, and delivers a great-looking finish with a little prep effort. Here's who might benefit most from POR-15: Mechanics or DIYers dealing with rust issues Anyone looking for a durable and versatile corrosion protection coating Tip: While not strictly necessary, following the recommended prep work can significantly enhance the final outcome

EDIT : if you have a partial can , I recommended putting some tape on the lid ro help seal and put it in the fridge to keep it cool, I did that and it was there for 2 months and was still good when I went to use it This was my first experience with por 15 rust preventative, and I'm glad to say if was a positive . Don't let the price scare you, I bought the 6 pack of 4oz cans and 1 can will cover a lot of area with 2 coats it covers very well. I will likly be buying buying a gal next since I think that's the best deal, I was a little concerned at first over reading people's ishues with storage but if u have any experience with paint cans it should be an ishue... keep the rim clean and make sure rhe lide has a good seal and it shouldn't be a ishue I used a spung brush, seemed ro work the best

The surface of the can will harden, even with the lid back on. You could purge the can with CO2 or nitrogen, but that isn't very practical. The small cans will minimize this waste. You can break through the skin with a screw driver, and if you come back in a few months and found it impossible to get to the remaining paint -- at least you only wasted a little. A little of this goes a long way on metal, so the quart size is overkill for small jobs. POR is a super tough paint for metal.

We are using POR-15 to protect our Classic Mini. We bought the kit that included cleaner and etch fluids last time, and now we need some more of the POR-15 protection paint. Bought this set of small tins because once a tin is opened and used once, it is VERY difficult to open the tin a second time because POR-15 sets REALLY hard and seals the metal lid. We poured it into a reusable small jar, and found that to be an easier way to store and re-open it when we needed to do lots of smaller jobs. Its a shame that you cannot buy individual small tins.
