Great movie! Wonderful interaction between actors, great plot

It's not supposed to be realistic, it's an over the top action blockbuster epic masterpiece bookend with Face/Off. John Woo is the legendary Hong Kong auteur (Hard Boiled), who gets heightened performances from his stars and perfectly cast supporting characters like Howie Long & Mathis. Every normal American from 12 to 70 years old loved this movie when it came out. It makes every single Hollywood movie in the last 5 years look like garbage. If you don't like movies like this, it says more about you than about the movie. Killer one of a kind retro synth eighties meets Ennio Morricone soundtrack. Kinetic thrill ride spectacle that pays off in spades. How does he charge every scene with non-stop electricity? Never a dull moment. They don't make them like this anymore. If you want historical accuracy go watch Patton. One of the greatest action movies of all time, hands down.

All round great action movie

Docked one star for the DVD version not being redone for 16x9 TV's. It's still got the old school theatrical ratio which was fine years ago, but not for all the huge screen TV's out now. The DVD is fine for some TV's and not others. I have a TV with a 32" screen and the DVD fills the screen pretty well. My girlfriend has a TV with a huge screen and the DVD picture makes you think you're watching a "little bitty" picture in the middle of the screen. It was unwatchable as far as I'm concerned. The Blu Ray, on the other hand, fills both screens just fine. It's still in letterbox format even on my girlfriend's huge screen, but it fills nearly all of the screen and is just the right size to be able to watch and enjoy the movie. So, buyer beware if you opt for the DVD instead of the Blu Ray and you own a big screen TV. Other than that there's no need for me to review the movie. It's full of action and cliffhanger scenes, just don't watch it too critically. I consider it for all intents and purposes to be a Saturday-afternoon western with a modern setting and situations. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, so I'm very biased as to how good it is! Yes, there are some plot errors in the movie, but if you just watch it for the action and adventure, it has several breathtaking scenes.

Great movie. Great DVD. The 90's were a great time.

Realistic? Probably not. But who cares? It's definitely entertaining. Christian Slater trying to stop Travolta from wiping Denver off the map with a stolen nuke. Howie Long plays his henchman. Great with pizza.

Très bon film d’action avec un John Travolta savoureux dans un personnage inhabituel pour lui !

Tengo que decir sin lugar a dudas que me ha parecido una pelicula muy interesante y sobre todo ver a John Travolta quien hace de malo como ya lo haria en Operacion Swordfish o en la de Asalto al tren Pelham 123. Y en el lado del "justiciero" tenemos a Christian Slater quien no se descuida ante nada con tal de impedir una explosión. Con respecto a esta edición, tengo que decir que he rescatado una edición que iba a ser descatalogada. De hecho, ahora mismo esta película esta distribuida por la Divisa Home Video. Asi que por eso decidí comprar la primera edición que es de la Fox.

I could happily watch this film over and over again John Travolta makes an excellent baddie l would recommend this film.

キャストは大勢いるが基本的にはジョン・トラボルタ、クリスチャン・スレイター、パークレンジャー役の女優の3人で物語をぐいぐい引っ張っていく。またジョン・ウー監督お得意のスピーディーなカット割とスローモーション撮影、生身のスタントを使用した迫力のある演出が作品をこの上なきものにしている。特にトラボルタが憎々しい程の悪役ぶりで、この作品の出来に大いに貢献している。ひとつ残念な事は画質が向上した分、最初のステルス機の飛行シーンの夜間のVFX画像が稚拙に見える事ぐらいか。音楽を担当したハンス・ジマーが素晴らしい仕事をしていて拍手ものです。メイキング特典なしでも買って損は無し。
