Breakthrough Vocal Trainer
I've been a vocal coach for many years. I use a very limited set of vocal exercises and they are mostly derived from traditional exercises. This Roland VT-12 Vocal Trainer has built-in over a hundred of vocal exercises applicable to pop (1-86) and classical(100) music. These exercises were developed and are being used in the well-known Berklee College of Music. The real gem of this product are the pop exercises that has a drum, bass, guitar and piano accompaniment. The exercises are slanted towards pop/rock, jazz swing, gospel rock and latin. On a personal level, this gadget monitors the key of your sung notes and feeds back instantaneously if the note is flat or sharp as you sing along with the exercises. It's a revolutionary voice training gadget that no singer or voice coach should be without.

try purchasing the book / CD first and see if this is sufficient
I found this on sale through a 3rd party seller. I sing at church and after reading the reviews thought that this would be a good tool to keep my voice in shape. I kept the unit in my car and hooked it up to the stereo. The microphone will feedback if you do this so essentially it became a very expensive playback device for the warm-up exercises, which can be found in the following book: Vocal Workouts for the Contemporary Singer (Vocal) (Berklee Press) (Book & Online Audio) Based on the quality of the exercises, I purchased the book which came with a CD which I loaded onto a USB drive and my iPhone. The only thing I am missing are the instrumental only versions of the exercises, and the Opera exercises, which I haven't really used anyway. My suggestion if you have decent pitch would be to try purchasing the book / CD first and see if this is sufficient.

I was amazed! I feel I made a wise investment for ...
I was pleasantly surprised by all the Roland can do. When I did the warm up exercises and saw how accurate it was when you are on or off pitch, I was amazed! I feel I made a wise investment for my ministry.

It's THE most useful gadget I've bought in years
Roland VT12 review. After a year's use, I can confidently say this device is a game changer. It's THE most useful gadget I've bought in years! It transformed my vocal training (I'm a pianist but see vocal work as a critical element of overall musicianship) from anxious guesswork to precise performance. My 'inner ear' is now connected to my voice in a way I never thought possible (for me). FYI, I love Amazon and transact hundreds of times a year but I did buy my VT12 from Sweetwater and paid the extra shipping. The Japanese imports offered here don't provide the supporting documentation in English. The Sweetwater device I received is obviously packaged for US market.
