In a survival situation the need for fire is critical. This one self-contained light weight tool has all you need to start a fire in virtually any environment, under any weather conditions. - Our Standard size Lighting Strike Fire Starter is available in Dark Blue, Satin Blue, Fiery Red or Forrest Green. The housing is anodized machined aluminum 7.5" long by 1" in diameter and weighs in at 4.5 oz. including tinder. The handle comes pre-loaded with enough tinder for about 18-20 fires, and is sealed with a water proof cap. Tinder refills are available. - The ferrocerium rod generates a large quantity of sparks. It is locked in the barrel of the Lightning Strike using a setscrew so it can be replaced or rotated when one side becomes worn. The barrel design directs and focuses the sparks so they are all concentrated on your tinder. A slot in the barrel guides your striker along the Ferro rod, and it also provides a stop so your striker does not disrupt the tinder pile. - The striker, when not in use, inserts into the end of the barrel for storage, and is held in place with a shock cord attached to the cap. No chance of dropping the striker in the snow or loosing it on the ground when its getting dark. It's always attached to the shock cord. The Lightning Strike can also be used even if one hand is injured. Place it on the ground. Hold it down with one foot. Place the tinder at the end of the barrel and strike.
