At first I hated it and though it was way too strong but it was the only thing I had so I continued to use it, later I have learned how to apply it more effectively and now I absolutely love it. I have fine blonde hair and this item works really well with it in small amounts, if I put to much in my hair it can give the effect has if my hair is tangled or glued together. Other than that I think it holds your hair upright for most of the day and it could do all day if I wasn't always touching and adjusting my hair through out the day, so if I have a long day or am going out on a night I have to top up my hair with a little more but either way it should get you through a school or working day without a problem. Really nice smell (likened to pineapple but by no means overpowering) really easy to apply and sticks like glue but with added freedom to rework later. I use it in the mornings for a professional clean style for work and then re-work when I get home (no additional cream required) for a very matt and rough finish but still with great hold. When I bought this from a stylist, it was like wax.** A: It isn't hard. It is soft and sticky. In my experience, it gets harder the older it is. It is difficult for me to use if it isn't soft. **Q: What am i doing wrong? it did nothing but make my hair look gunky. no hold, no spiking nothing.... even on the short hair on my head is didn't spike** A: I do not think this will achieve spiking effect. This is a wax like paste and works great to give texture but on it's own, it does not have spiking hols capabilities. I would rub a very small amount between my palms till it it not sticky the work it into my hair. If I am styled and want to add texture, I light touch the tips or group of hair. If I want to ise it as a base, I apply onto damp hair and style then finish with hair spray. Never apply directly without softening in your palms and never use to much. You acan add more, but cannot take away. **Q: Are you selling the product in old packaging: black with green trim?** A: It is not the black & green,it's the old stuff. **Q: Would this worl for a pompadour?** A: I find this works well. I have very short hair and yes this does work for a pompadour. This is made from the american crew company which is famous for hair products and now i can see why. It has almost a creamy texture to it and as it says it has a very strong hold. It also smells nice which is a plus. There isnt too much shine but then again it isnt like a matt finish.
