(From Texas, enough said) However, hubby is from Cincinnati and on visits back home, his first stop is usually for "chili". So when I got stuck for something to get for his birthday this year, I decided to find some mix to make his beloved "chili". I chose this one mostly because of the comments about high salt content in some of the others I looked at. Not just a little high, but high enough to affect the taste according to some reviews. This one has a fraction of the salt in other brands. It was easy to make, I followed some tips in other reviews, don't brown the meat first (ugh) is the big one apparently. The longer you let it simmer the more water cooks away and you get thicker chili. I only cooked it a little over an hour and according to hubby it was perfect for "wet". The package recommends 1 to 3 hours simmer time but I think 3 would have been extremely dry at that point, but it's very much a personal preference thing. Given hubby's reaction, I would recommend this brand to anyone looking an authentic experience.
