TLDR : sturdy build, works well, thermostat in attic reads a few degrees higher than actual when compared to remote. moves a lot of air, lower temperature in attic. would recommend. also take a photo of serial number before installing for easy registration later. I have been checking several fans for sale, I settled on this one due to testimonials about the build quality and operation. Since they helped, I thought I would contribute with my two cents. I got the version of the fan which has the remote to control it. Packaging was good and product arrived timely and intact. instructions regarding set up and installation are straightforward and only really needed help to set up the remote. This unit is being installed on your typical Florida home currently undergoing a reroof. Therefore, we removed the exhaust fan from the roof and opted to put this vent fan in the gable., or side of the house. After sweating in the attic in 120°+ temperatures, I finally got the appropriate opening and then mounted the fan from the inside of the attic rather than outside. This allowed me to safely install at the highest point on the gable side of the roof without risking being on a ladder. Eventually, I’ll go back and put some caulking on the outside, but I think it’s tucked up high enough under the eaves that it wont have water entry and not really concerned about water intrusion during heavy rains. We had one day of serious South Florida thunderstorms and warnings and it was fine. Hurricanes and sideways rain might be another story Installation is straightforward, and the QR code in the instruction book links to a video so that you can pair the remote to the unit that is installed in the attic and controls the fan from your living room or garage. I noticed the temperature dropping immediately after the fan was turned on, which is exactly what was expected. Operation is quiet enough, I do have it installed over the bathroom area and it can be heard from the bathroom as a slight hum, but that’s not a problem as it’s easy to turn off in the evening hours from the remote or by setting a desired target temperature which is typical at night. The lower or slower settings seem to make more noise. This fan moves a lot of air and i’m going to monitor the temps this summer with the fan on and off. For now it read 122 before install and 105-108 after instal and running. This fan has an 18 inch opening needed and it seems to really draw a lot of air. the shutters open about 3/4 the way when on high and close when off but do stay open a bit. There is a tight fit between studs in the attic, so there may be a pinch that is not allowing the vents to close. It closed when reviewing upon receipt. the shutters are too close to the edges, we are talking less than 1mm or a 1/16 of an inch. I may just lightly file down an edge or two of the shutters from the inside of the attic, because I installed the fan from the inside. The fan portion cab be removed from the unit and the housing will stay in place. I also found this helpful as a a potential solution during hurricanes, maybe slip some wood on the inside or two pieces through the vents onto the outside and securing it from the inside. then again I might just leave as is and see what happens with our first hurricane next time we get one. It seems sturdy, but not sturdy enough that it would stay closed on its own. It might need some small drill points and potentially some tie straps to hold the vents closed. Will do some type of Florida hurricane engineering. The only observation that is sort of a con or gotcha I think worth commenting about is the remote control and the feature about the temperature., versus the temperature read in the attic. I thought it was handy to have the local room temperature, which is determined by the location of the remote, so if I leave the remote in the garage, I’ll get the garage temperature versus having the remote in the house. The remote provides a reasonably accurate temperature of its location. what’s worth noting is I left the remote next to the unit in the attic and they had a different reading. The attic thermostat reads higher than actual, assuming the remote is reading actual temperature. I determined this because the remote closely matches the thermostat inside the house . Therefore, when you’re setting the remote to 90°, the attic would probably shut off if it reaches less than actual 90°, as it seems to read 4 to 5° hotter and higher than actual. The real temp in this scenario would be 85 to 86 and the unit would indicate it as 90. The max temp to auto shut off is 99 which works for most states but in Florida that means the attic fan runs all day on auto, which is not an issue but if you would want to manually shut off for some reason, you can from anywhere in the house. it responds from the backyard also. i’m including photos of the portable unit next to the thermostat in the attic, showing the readings on each. And then showing the portable unit next to the thermostat in the house, indicating the portable remote has a more accurate gauge of the temperature. Other than that, I have not tinkered with any of the settings and I just leave it running all day, it’s set to a temperature that in the evening it’ll shut off and if it doesn’t overtime, I can always use the remote which is super handy. other potential drawback is that during a power outage, you likely have to resync the remote to the unit, ut i think that can be done from living room. remove a battery, hold power and keep pressed while inserting battery again and then press power again. i dont know if you need to be near unit in attic I would recommend this attic fan. If it fails, I’ll come back to complain! time to register this with the manufacturer as well. i think the serial number is on the fan; so snap a photo upon arrival!! hope this helps!

Easy install. We use at one end of a straight 5:12 pitched roof above 1800 sq. ft living space; light grey asphalt shingles. Open bird blocks along all eaves, with an added 12x12" louvre at the other end, joining the garage. From day one it allowed crew to install insulation in attic without passing out when ambient day temps were in the mid 70s (this is near Seattle after all). Remote control has worked well; never an issue. My office is along the same exterior wall where the fan is installed, and at full power, I notice a humming noise but am otherwise not bothered. At lower speeds, that's when I get a bit annoyed and have to go full power or turn it off. Does its job well, good value, and cooler attic (and thus home).

$212.00 for a box with a fan and a separate cord in it. For a fan with none of the parts it lists it would come with. For a fan that you must wire up yourself. For a "single" speed vent fan. No thermostat or humidistat attached to the fan or in the box. No remote. A day late. Lol, Sigh... On the flip side, it was well packaged. Was hoping to rid my garage & attic space of "some" of this stagnant hot air. It's back to the box fans I guess. Update: The Fan was replaced in a timely fashion. This time it came with the remote, and the control box that makes the magic happen. The cord was easy to attach, though they should include a rubber/plastic grommet of some kind. Install was straight forward. Had to use a couple 2 x 4 boards to fill the hole some. Still hot and humid as ever in central Fl, but with this venting hot garage attic air out, the heat doesn't build up & make the garage stuffy like it used to. Also, the A/C doesn't give the initial blast of hot air it used to on turn on and seems to keep the house overall cooler. The remote has an indoor/attic thermostat readout on it & works from inside my house, which is a plus. All in all, so far so good. Would purchase again. Upgraded from 1 star to 4.

Prior to this fan we had a roof exhaust fan that was pretty noisy. I ended up setting that fan setpoint VERY high so that it wouldn't run much. But that made the attic hotter, along with our bedrooms underneath the attic space. This fan is VERY quiet for an attic fan. It's not zero noise, but it is MUCH quieter than the roof fan was. It's a very low hum that we can sleep with. And our bedroom is right below the gable fan in the attic!! Also REALLY nice that I can adjust the setpoint now without crawling into the attic. On hot days, I can adjust the setpoint to about 15 degrees higher than the forecast high for the day. On typical summer days I just set-it-and-forget-it, but being able to adjust the setpoint with a remote control on hot days is really, really nice.

This fan does exactly what I wanted it to do. It was relatively easy to install. I cant believe the wireless remote control added a $100 to the price but that is the only way it would work in my situation. The 10" fan moves a lot of air. The louvers move easily and do not restrict air flow. The rounded ridges on the louvers leave openings for pesky bees, wasps, yellowjackets and hornets to explore and infiltrate to the interior. Solved by putting a screen over the exterior opening which restricts airflow a little bit. Remote control is a bit complicated to use and not intuitive. Does work great but the is a persistent whine at medium and low speeds. It's not bad enough to nix it or take a pass on purchasing it but the remote is expensive. I would buy it again and am thinking about buying a spare fan (only). Ball bearings instead of sleeve bearing in fan would improve useful life of fan. Even with caveats, it does what I need it to do and I am pleased with this exhaust fan.

Love this fan. Works exactly as described. A couple of pointers. First, in manual mode there is a fairly significant delay from pressing high, medium or low and the fan actually changing speed. Second, while others have commented on the louvres not working once installed I, at first, had the same problem. I simply reduced the number of screws to the minimum needed (one at each corner) and was careful to not over tighten the fan frame. Louvres work like a charm.

The 24" model with thermostat and Remote works pretty well and has very low sound. I did write a review earlier which did not get posted by Amazon. I do have complaints on the shipping where one of the edges got bent, and did not like that it was coming all the way from California to the far eastern Canada- Toronto city, at a very high shipping charge. The amount of air you feel from outside my greenhouse is massive and for a while I was afraid this operates like a regular circulation fan, until I noticed the inside temperature dropped fairly. Unfortunately, one fan was not enough for my 25x25x12 feet gable greenhouse structure, when the day was 30 degrees Celsius (30x2+30=90 Fahrenheit). The cost is same for similar products from other companies if you want the thermostat and remote. Overall I loved iLiving product and also its customer support. Strongly recommend iLiving, but advise Amazon to work on shipping charges for Canadians.
