I started with the inexpensive silicone ice ball maker and found the ice was not clear and more importantly shattered almost immediately when I put it in the glass. This system makes a clear ice ball that stays together for several drinks. Never had one split. The calls are clear. It does take up some room in the fridge but the styrofoam is the secret ingredient, slowing the freezing process and allowing the impurities to fall out of the ice ball into the bottom of the cooler.
