Doors Live At Bow Review: Absolutely fantastic! - Watching this concert gives you a front row seat to one fantastic concert. The restoration of the original film was beautifully done and the sound was crisp and clear. You really feel like you were put in a time capsule and whooshed back in time to 1968. For any fan of The Doors or someone wanting to learn more about them, this is a must watch. The band looked and sounded great - no fireworks, laser light shows or fog needed here. The Doors talent shines and Jim Morrison is as mesmerizing as ever! The extras on the dvd are stunning tv performances which alone are worth it. I can't wait to see this in the movie theatre - don't miss this one - there will never be anyone like Jim Morrison and in watching this, makes you miss him even more. Review: They DID The Bowl Proudly - I finally watched this new version and recently saw the one with a complaint of old version and must say that even if it has been altered in some formatting that hardly a real issue to how the whole video done. A much better print then the original DVD that was out. How they made the lost tracks fit was a marvel. It almost seems to me they used the Hollywood Bowl audio from the tapes they got from "Absolutely Live" but states otherwise, nevertheless, this one is worth picking up if your just wondering what The Doors were like "Live" or the collector wanting a better complete concert. The bonus material with members are really good as well. A history of the Bowl (which I have been to and it is a great venue for a concert) & the way the added songs were put into the DVD. So in conclusion, get this one, keep the other if you want to which they cut out the fireworks in this version & enjoy The Doors in the peak of their career. Highly recommended, get it! They DID The Bowl Proudly

Audio is Excellent
This is the best sounding audio of any concert I have viewed from the 1960s. As soon as Jim Morrison walked on stage I thought "wow, he is stoned". He just has that glassy-eyed look about him and kind of slinks around slowly on stage. Sure enough, it turns out he dropped acid just before the concert, verified by the liner notes and interviews in the bonus features. Somehow he turns in a professional performance. He is one of those performers that somehow commands your attention. The performances from the band are outstanding and you really get to see and hear how great of musicians they are. The Doors did not have a bass player, so Ray Manzarek plays bass on the keyboard with his left hand, and plays all the other keyboard parts with his right hand. How he does this is a mystery - very talented. Thankfully, this was recorded on film before directors discovered all the fast editing of today's filmed concerts. You have nice lingering shots of Jim Morrison and the entire band, the way it should be. Some interesting shots of the audience as well. For some reason the audience was shooting off fireworks throughout the concert which was a little distracting. My only minor gripe was that the concert was fairly short (1 hr. 15 min.) and some of your favorites might not have made the set list (notably "Soul Kitchen", one of my faves).

A Legendary Performance That Feels Like You Are There
I picked this up and it really feels like stepping back into a classic live concert. The performance is raw and full of energy, and it captures the band at a powerful moment in time. The atmosphere of the crowd and the intensity on stage make it easy to get pulled into the experience. It is the kind of concert you can watch all the way through and still want to go back and see again.

Good Show
It's the only full live concert in the US The Doors performed that was recorded. It's such a shame that their other concerts weren't recorded, because this concert is like drinking soda that has been open for a week, it's flat. Don't get me wrong the song quality is amazing, and the concert is said to be there best quality music they ever did. But still, I would of loved to see Jim drunk onstage cursing at the audience and letting loose. The concert is very tame, but it's still an excellent showcase filled with some of the Doors best songs.

OMG AWSOME AUDIO THE DOORS LIVE
I got the DVD and played it on my McIntosh Labs Home Theater. 6,000 plus amps. It is remastered in DTS. The drums and Jim Morrisons voice come clearly blasting through the center speaker. The rest of the band is perfect as far as audio. It is really better then being there. I only paid 10 bucks for this ticket!

Not thrilling but probably a must-own for a Diehard Doors fan
Someone else wrote "Pretty much just Jim singing in front of a mic for slightly more than an hour; not a lot of band theatrics and pretty bare bones all things considered, but worth a watch". I shortened his review a little, took a couple words out, but I think that's a great summary. If you're a HUGE Doors fan then this is probably a must have video - I've always been a Doors fan and I found it pretty boring. I bought the Blu-ray and the audio and video are hi-def so it does have that going for it. The video is 58 to 60 minutes long.
