Review: Timeless classic. This movie single handedly revived Ellen's career. - Just so we are clear, Ellen has always been awesome. She made a brave, bold move and it kinda tanked her career. I thought Ellen was done in Hollywood. Casting her in this movie was seen as a bit of a risky choice. NOBODY could have played Dori the way Ellen did. I'm 45. I think I was 21 or something when it came out. We would watch this movie all the time. Now I have a 4 year old son, and he had no idea about Finding Nemo. When we watched it, it was like magic. He laughed, he cried. He cheered and jumped up on the bed. And when it was over, he was ready to watch it again IMMEDIATELY. This movie is timeless. Review: Even better on Blu Ray - I loved this movie so much when first seeing it that I had pre-ordered the DVD when it first came out (something I don't usually do). I've watched it countless times and haven't gotten sick of it. Now, seeing it in high def, the movie looks and sounds absolutely spectacular. Since you likely know the story, I'll only comment briefly on that. This movie dares to tackle some very important issues, some for children, but some that even parents could benefit from. The idea of accepting someone because they're different or believing that you can still do anything despite physical handicaps, is a message that everyone should listen to. Looking over all of the adventures that Nemo has, he really can do anything that he sets his mind to. Even more profound, though, is the idea of over-parenting. And we hear it summed up so well by Dory, the most unlikely character to deliver such a message, when she says, "Well, you can't never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him." As much as we'd like to keep our kids confined so they're safe, we also have to learn to let go. Notice how at the end, when Marlin does let him go to school, Nemo swims back to say, "I love you, dad." Now on to the blu ray. Back when this movie first came out, blu ray wasn't even a trademark term. So we looked at the DVD and figured the quality was good enough. Seeing this beautiful film on an HDTV is simply amazing. The magnificent colors, the tiny details of the fish and the ocean, and the 7.1 surround sound is just beautiful. We sometimes get disappointed with blu ray conversions when studios seem to make little to no effort to improve the sound and picture quality. Not the case with this one. I just can't stress enough how perfect this movie is going to look on your big screen. I'd consider this to be one of Pixar's greatest works, from animation quality, to story, to casting. On top of all that, the improvement to high def is well worth the price. This is one movie no family should be without.

Not just for kids!
I have a healthy respect for Pixar. They've done four major films, every one of them was graphically stunning, yes.. but they also realized what makes a great movie isn't just the graphics - but a good STORY. Finding Nemo is probably my favorite of the four they've done. Not only is the story heart-warming and touching, but its also funny! The basic plot is that Marlin is an overprotective father who lost his wife and most of his children in a barracuda attack. His only surviving child is a little clownfish named Nemo, who happens to also have a bad fin. On the first day of school Nemo's class goes to the dropoff (where the reef stops and the ocean gets deep), where Nemo and his new friends see a boatand decide to have a competition to see who can swim closer. Marlin shows up, becomes overprotective and Nemo rebells. He gets caught by a diver and put in a fishtank. The remainder of the story is how scaredy cat (er, fish) Marlin goes on a fantastic journey to find his son. I saw some reviewers complaining that the story isn't realistic - but is it supposed to be? It's supposed to be entertaining and fun, which is it. The characters are all funny, likeably and interesting. Dory, who Marlin befriends on his journey, is hilarious throughout the whole movie ("Yes, I'm a natural blue!"). The graphics are amazing as well - Pixar keeps raising the bar with each movie they make. The bottom line is, this movie is visually stunning, the story is wonderful, the characters are great.. its one of the best movies of the year - no question in my mind! The DVD is also a great buy - it has tons of features including some behind the scenes stuff that is really interesting. I especially liked the special which basically went through the entire process of making the movie (albeit condensed - the movie took like 3 years to make!). Another especially neat feature was how they watched real fish and tried to make all the computerized fish as realistic as possible. It's a great buy - I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed!

Visually Stunning Ocean Adventure with Heartwarming Themes
Finding Nemo delivers a beautifully animated underwater journey that blends humor, emotion, and adventure. The story follows a timid clownfish named Marlin as he searches for his lost son, Nemo, encountering a variety of colorful sea creatures along the way. The voice acting is strong, with memorable performances that bring the characters to life. The film’s visuals are impressive, especially for its time, showcasing vibrant coral reefs and fluid animation. Themes of family, perseverance, and trust are woven throughout, making it suitable for both children and adults. While the pacing occasionally slows in the middle, the overall narrative remains engaging. A solid choice for family movie night, with enough charm and depth to appeal to a wide audience.

Finding Nemo is the best animated film that I have seen to date! it is simply the best! If you've loved the Pixar titles then you will love this feature! No doubt about it! Finding Nemo tells the story of (Marlyn)Father and (Nemo)Son, Marlyn is overprotective of Nemo after what has happened to their family, but doesn't give Nemo the freedom that he wants, he defys his father after telling Nemo not to touch the bottom of a boat, when he does the adventure begins. Marlyn searches out to find Nemo and along the way has an adventure of a lifetime! This film is magnificant as the characters are uplifting, the way that some of the characters has been animated are amazing, and the voice actors adds emotion creating a unique character, when you watch this film you won't even realise that its animated because the story is just so good. This set includes the bonus disc that explains how its all done, when we watch an animated film we don't truely appreciate how much work has gone into it to make it like as if it was no effort, Pixar is to be praised with this animated title as this is one for all audiences! one definatly worth owning!! After watching it, I still can't get over the birds! "Mine Mine Mine Mine Mine" heh :D (you will understand when you watch it)
