Amy Carmichael (1867-1951) was a missionary and author who spent over fifty years of her life without returning home serving mainly low caste girls and boys in South India. Iain Murray's concise biography provides an enlightening and moving account of her remarkable life and love for her Saviour, as well as perceptively drawing lessons from it. Review: An amazing life - Amy lived an amazing life of service and dedication to Jesus Christ through her love and care of many children rescued from lives condemned to prostitution. Even though she never gave birth to children of her own, she was truly a loving mother to so many children. Her life is an inspiration and an example of Christ's love for us. Review: Good, true and inspirational! - This is an easy read and gives information not found in other works on her life. Good read!

Bought 2 copies to share, excellent and fast reading
I never really read the "heavier" books about Amy Carmichael, so this was an excellent introduction to Amy and how God used her to touch so many lives. Iain Murray is so good at getting right to the point and making the reading enjoyable and smooth. I read the entire book in a short time and then shared it with others. I highly recommend it. She stood up for what was right in the ministry God gave her in India even if other Christians back in England didn't understand. She was a woman of courage, passion, compassion and commitment. Her life at the end was most interesting to me.

Gift and Re-Gift
Nice quality little book. I gave it to my aunt for Christmas - I really wanted to read it too, having been turned to Ms. Carmichael via a Pastor Herschel York quoting her "Scars" poem - and she loved it so much she bought me one shortly after she finished it.

Conviction at its best!
This is a life story about a women who possessed genuine love for people, Jesus love. It convicts your heart and makes you question your relationship with God which in turn takes you to prayer asking for guidance about your work for God may look like. She is not only obedient to God but also a strong women physically, emotionally, and mentally. Great read.

Have read so many books by and about Amy Carmichael, but this author commented helpfully on an aspect of her life that was a bit mysterious to me, Amy's understanding of God's guidance.
