CAMO EDGEClip Hidden Deck Fasteners (450 ct)

Used these to install timbertech legacy boards. Worked really well. had some problems getting one of the driver heads out of my impact wrench, but other than that these are easy to set up and install. Once boards are cut and ready to be installed, these go super quick. Feel like they were made by Timbertech.

I don't usually take the time to respond to request for product reviews but when you get everything you expected and more you have to taken the time to let everyone know. I was so impressed with the CAMO Edge Clip Hidden Deck Fasteners I bought I had to take the time. I have built decks before and have used nails, screws, plastic and metal deck board fasteners ... they are all hard to set properly, can be frustrating, time consuming and the end results are sometimes inconsistent loose boards and spacing. These CAMO Edge Clip Hidden Deck Fasteners are well engineered, easy to use and the results are superior to anything I've ever used before ... these guys have thought it through ...! They designed the fastener assembly so it positions almost effortlessly over the joist, aligns the deck board instantly. They provide a #12 screw driver bit and plastic spacer / screw guide that ensures consistent board spacing, keeps you from stripping out the screw head or the drive and keeps you from over driving when setting screw. Just slightly more expensive ($0.02) then the plastic or metal fasteners but the ease of installation and consistent professional results and time saving are well worth the little extra.

The Camo Edge clips are exceptional at creating nice, even spacing between the deck boards and locking them down to the joists. The advertising you can put down three or four composite boards at once is overestimated. The problem is that the metal gusset that locks down the grooved decking moves quite a bit, and when you have a 16-foot span of Trex decking with 12-inch on-center joists, many edge clips can move out of the grooved space. In looking at my photos they locked down two rows at a time and screwed them in using the edge clips. Keeping them in place while screwing them down took three people because the Trex grooved board with the Camo edge clips does not stay in place on that long of a span. Another issue is spacing compatibility. Camo spacing is 3/16, while Trex recommends 1/4 spacing, so technically, you are not following Trex's recommended specs. It's not a big deal, but I recommend continuing that 3/16 spacing throughout the deck for visual uniformity. A drawback is that Camo can not compensate for spacing based on the install temperature; 3/16, that's it. The Johnson Level & Tool 60-275 Deck Mate, Deck Board Spacing Tool (orange) was beneficial with the spacing in addition to the camo clips. If you have over 12-foot decking spans, buy 3. Lastly, Camo Edge Clips are superior to Trex hidden fasteners because stainless steel holds down the Trex decking instead of plastic. You can feel it when testing it; it's solid. Camo edge clips are the best hidden fasteners on the market, but they aren't the fastest to lay down, as advertised. I am totally happy with the deck's outcome, and I would buy Camo Edge clips again for my deck. Deck: Trex Transcend, Tiki Torch, 1 x 6 x 12 and 16 feet decking

Best deck clips ever. You can layout 5 or 6 boards at a time. Get your measurements square and then screw them down. Buy extra t15 bits. You will need them.

I was using Concealoc and they are so flimsy and inconsistent and SLOW, switching to camo edge, especially if you are doing long board runs, are light years faster, the spacing stays wonderfully consistent, and the "wings" that are used for alignment double as a crud deflector to keep pine needles/etc. from sitting on the joint and rotting them (I use joist tape too, but it's a nice bonus to the #1 way deck frames initially fail due to rot). Not to mention they're cheaper than concealoc to boot. Only con is the gaps are a bit wider than concealoc and you can see the screw in between the boards, but the consistency of the gaps is 1000x better than concealoc so I'll take it.

Good design, easy to use, facilitates installation of decking boards. Highly recommend this product
