This 4-1/2" Arkansas Ceramic Rod Knife sharpener is perfect for those knife uses on the go. Fits in a pocket or backpack easily. Comes as a rod only. Does not include handle. Review: Great product. - Why did you pick this product vs others?: It worked very well sharpening a karambit knife. Review: Pocket friendly - I purchased the ceramic rod with the intent to carry wherever I went. The rod is a good grit helping maintain an edge on my pocket knives while away from my home. The ends of the rod are not sharp or uncomfortable to hold unto. I also find the length to make it easy to use yet compact enough to throw in a pocket. I feel that the value was fair to the price as well. I will be purchasing another to keep in my vehicle.

Good traveling hone for your rental unit's abused knives
I bought this to keep in my travel kit, when we rent a VRBO or AirBnB. The knives in those units are ALWAYS badly treated, and need to be sharpened. I also have a carborundum stone that travels with us, but to properly sharpen a knife, you need to hone it after it's been ground. This little rod does a better job than the diamond-steel honing rod I have at home. It's a little short -- you have to hold it by the very end to make it usable. But considering how little space it takes, and the price, it's a good bargain.

ceramic rod
I purchased this to sharpen a very tight curved cutting hook, I am happy with the results.

Great value and quality.
Great price and product. Too long for my knife sheath but I could break it precisely and smooth the end. Perfect. Heat shrink cap makes it easier to use. Love it.

Great portable sharpener
Perfect pocket/pack/tacklebox sharpener for quick touch-ups. Fits perfectly in an old classroom chalk holder I picked up.

Great for touch ups in the field or camping
This rod is handy size so it's easy to stow away until you need to touch up a blade to max sharpness. I use a hard plastic tube as a carpet for the rod bc they are brittle. This brittleness is its only drawback in my opinion.

Not 1/2" Rod
It's a fine ceramic honing rod, but it is not 1/2" as described. Wouldn't be a big deal except I was purchasing to use on serrated blades that a 1/2 rod would hone perfectly. 0.373" rod does not fit the scallops of the serrations correctly.
