So then you need a nice plastic bucket that does all that for you. These buckets fit the bill. They look plenty acceptable out on a balcony and the Bokashi bugs seems happy within. However, like many of the other reviews say, the cheap plastic valve will break almost immediately. Mine lasted three weeks. I had to spend another $15 for a brass valve (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019YMGNDW/). Thus this is the most expensive plastic bucket I have ever purchased. The valve will not fit at first but you can take a sharp knife and shave away at the top of the hole slightly to get it in. Make sure you cut way at the top and not the bottom so that the interior nut will have room to fasten. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Vermitek is awesome! Update 2023 added pics *by E*** on August 30, 2021* I decided to try Bokashi as an option since I didn’t have a garbage disposal and wanted to recycle instead of putting scraps in landfill. Also, my property soil was very poor and clay throughout the yard. This was my very first try at anything like this but I saw Steve Chen and Vermitek videos and felt a little more confident. So I Purchased twin Bokashi bin packages almost 2 years ago. Durable product, easy assembly, worked just as described. I keep it under the counter so I can put scraps in it daily and NO SMELL in house! No flies, no maggots, nothing but food scraps ready to go into the dirt. Animals did not dig it up after I used trench method in my back yard. First year saw incredible improvement in the health of my soil and it came alive with earth worms. My tomatoes, green peepers, string beans, etc all have a higher yield, larger than usual healthy plants, and believe it or not even tastier!!! In front yard I have a beautiful flower garden where nothing would grow before! The best part is Steve Chen and staff at Vermitek were quick to answer any questions I had, gave me some good advice for Bokashi through winter and now With the additional info Steve gave me I may try my hand at the Vernihut which is said worms can get used to Bokashi in closed environment. The worms sure do love it in my back yard. Im so pleased with the customer service! Anytime I order the Bokashi bran it is swift and works like a charm each and every time. Real people not automated crap. Thanks Vermitek you really made it easy for this first time shot to turn out to be a great experience. Customer for life. Sorry. Not many pictures on the garden yield but honest this Bokashi thing really works.Update 2023: still going stronger. After years of use I did end up breaking the valve by dropping the bin down some stairs (bin did not crack). I emailed Vermitek to try and buy a new valve. Received my part within couple days! This system continues to bring health and vitality to my yard (1/2 acre of soil that needed help desperately!). A couple neighbors were so impressed they sent for this kit as well and they too are impressed.
