Are these certified kosher? o-u or o-k?

To the layman, a "kosher Bugle" would be one certified by a kosher authority. That means that someone certifies that all ingredients and the process under which the food was prepared have met the standards of that certifying authority. Acceptance of a kosher authority is based on the kosher consumer's trust in that authority. For example, Bob the baker can certify that everything he bakes is kosher and it may well be true, but unless people accept Bob's judgement, he will sell very few of his baked goods to the kosher-practicing public. (FYI, I am kosher.) For a big company like General Mills there would be a kosher certification symbol from a well-known kosher authority printed on the bag. My wife purchased a bag recently (October 2018), thinking "Bugles Original" was kosher, but I can find no hechsher (kosher certification symbol) on the packaging. A missing symbol does NOT mean it is not kosher, but it is a bad sign. You can write to the company asking for a copy of their kosher certification letter for that product. If such a letter does NOT exist then they are making no claims as to whether the item is kosher. Kosher certification is on an item-by-item basis, so one must check each product for its kosher certification. That is why a kosher symbol from a trusted kosher authority printed on the package makes things so much easier.
