The OM5 vocal dynamic microphone is made with an extremely tight and uniformly controlled hypercardioid polar pattern which isolates the vocals from the rest of the instruments on stage or in a studio.

Review: Cool mic, love it - Bought one, was awesome, bought another. If you want clear, bright and loud dynamic, it’s freakin awesome. Great isolation too. Bought an omx-m too, also awesome. My personal favorites both now, over my Beta 58a and e835. (And they’re not bad either lol) It’s what I was looking for. Give it a 5 at that price. Cool mic.

I 've had the OM2, then the OM3 ( which is light years better than the OM2) and decided to give the OM5 a go. Been using it over the last 3 months on my gigs. I love it !I I have an alto-soprano range and sing rock/blues/R&B. Vocals are VERY CLEAN and crisp with this mic (don't sing sloppy with this - audience will hear it). This has a tight polar pattern (like all the Audix mics) so won't get much/any feedback from monitors that are close/in front. I like to sing right on top on the mic -- which you can do with this mic without distortion. Highly recommend this vs. OM2/OM3 (which are good basic mics). Some tips: Don't be rough when removing mic cord connection from the bottom of these mics -- could result in wires/pcb board from mic coming w/your cord. Just be aware there is NO on/off switch on these if that's a feature you like.

A: As best as I can see, the $99.99 one being sold is a "refurbished model." Look into the details for each seller and you will see a variety of prices, price + shipping, new, refurbished, etc.

**Q: I have a shure clip on my K & M stand. Can this mic be clipped to that clip?**
A: Hi Carlos, Shure makes a lot of different clips. That said, this mic is a pretty standard size. **Q: Will this mic be good for studio application (recording vocals)? I hear a lot of comments indicating its performance in live venues, but not studio**
A: Typically people use large diaphragm condenser microphones in the studio, like the Audio Technica AT4033. You can use dynamic mics in the studio, but typically people prefer the sound of large diaphragm condenser microphone. You just can't use most condensers as a live vocal mic, because they are too sensitive and pick up everything on stage.

**Q: Is this a good mic choice for a quiet singer? (yes, years of lessons, good mic technique, instruments don't overpower. great voice, just not strong.)**
A: Yes!  The Audix OM5 is a really great mic for a variety of singers.  My wife and I perform as a duo and each use one.  My wife is also a "quiet singer" so I have to increase her gain and volume on our PA.  The OM5 does not feed back even when we turn it up.  We typically play through a Bose tower and the sound comes from behind us.  If you have any feedback issues when you turn up the mic, just turn the mic slightly away from the speaker and try to keep your head between the mic an speaker.  We also have several Shure SM58s that we use when hosting Open Mics.  Both the Shure and Audix mics are well built with tight connections and have held up well.  The Shures will pick up your voice from "around" the mic, but be sure to sing directly into the Audix as it is uni-directional.  We have been using Shure SM58s for 8 years and Audix OM5s for 4 years and highly recommend them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My go to vocal mic

I have been doing live sound since the eighties and have tried all the usual vocal mics. A typical gig for me is one like I did a few weeks ago where I did sound for a stage for four days at a music festival. I had to deal with dozens of acts, men, woman, loud, soft, eat the mic, back off the mic, this works for everyone. A lot of people love the SM58/Beta 58 and they are easy to work with but I find them harsh on some people, this mic works for everyone. The price is reasonable for what it is and it is highly feedback resistant.
