I am SUPER particular about my bedding. We live in Georgia and it is so so hot in the summer time. I have several requirements when looking:1) Must be cotton and a lower but still good quality thread count so it breathes2) Have a deep fit for my thick mattress and memory foam mattress topper3) Smoothness and Softness4) Dark Color (personal choice since I like using self tanner and don't want staining)These sheets ticked off every one of my requirements.Cotton, check! They have a lower thread count so they breathe if we get hot at night. No more waking up in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat! Check!They easily fit on my thick mattress set up without pulling and straining on the fitted sheet/elastic. I also have to note that even though its easy to get them on the mattress, the fitted sheet stays on perfectly and amazingly doesn't come off even though my husband flops around like a fish on land during the night. Check!These sheets are definitely smooth but not completely as soft as I want them to be. This is not a huge deal at the moment because they are brand new and from personal experience, they will become softer the more you sleep on them and wash them. I would say a 4 out of 5 on softness. Thats just going to take a little time. Check!Last but not least, if you are looking for dark sheets get the dark grey ones! They are a beautiful deep color. I went from five inches to 13 inches. (I know — “mazel tov.”)Obviously I washed these first. They came out of the dryer without a great deal of wrinkling (I refuse to iron sheets). I like damask sheets because they are easier to orient on a queen-size bed. The stripes go the long way. I have similar sheets from Macy's that I paid almost double for so these are a good value.I ordered blue and the color is beautiful. Very rich with an over-dyed effect. The feel is quite satiny.The generously sized fitted sheet went on with no struggle whatsoever. Elastic all around but it could be a tad tighter. I am pretty sure that you could go up to a 14 inch mattress without a problem. I do wish that the top sheet were about an inch longer.
