Infant Potty Training: A Gentle and Primeval Method Adapted to Modern Living [Boucke, Laurie] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Infant Potty Training: A Gentle and Primeval Method Adapted to Modern Living Review: This book is priceless. - This book is wonderful. After diapering three children with disposable diapers until they were 3+ years old I thought it would be time to try something new with my forth baby. I am now using cloth diapers and have been applying the elimination technique described in the book since my baby was about 2 weeks old. I cannot tell how amazed I am about how successful this method is. Every morning when my baby wakes up I take off her diaper and hold her over a potty. She immediately poos and pees quite a bit. This is great because her diaper stays dry, which means less diaper rash for her and less laundry for me. During the rest of the day I manage to catch about 1/2 of the stuff that otherwise would go into the diaper. I feel especially empowered when I take off her dry diaper, let her pee and then put the same dry diaper back on. I am by no means forcing my baby to go to the potty. I just try to respond to her cues as well as I can. My daughter is relaxed about being taken to the potty. Sometimes she gets upset when I think she is done and put her diaper on too early. When I take it off for a second time and give it another try she immediately stops protesting and becomes calm again. I also have the impression that when she has to go, my baby waits until I take her to the potty. I really enjoy the communication going on between me and my now 2-month-old baby. It is true that people do not believe it when you tell them about infant potty training. On their visit my parents saw my baby go on the potty and said it was just a coincidence that she used it. They did not even change their minds after watching it for several consecutive days. After two months my mom finally believes me that the method is really working. By the way: It does not matter whether you are using disposable diapers or cloth diapers. The technique aims on using less (or even no diapers, depending on how brave you are) in a shorter time than with conventional potty training. Imagine how much money you could save and how much dirty diapers you won't have to handle. I am convinced that, if I keep on doing what I am doing, over time my baby's diapers will stay dry during most of the day. I can only recommend this book. Review: fantastic book covering everything you need to know! - This book covers all the topics related to infant potty training, and gives information for every and anything you would come across, by far my favorite book on the method! I first read this book when I was pregnant, and it was this book that made me decide to give it a try. I'd never seen or knew anyone who practiced this, but this book gave me the resources I needed to feel confident enough to try it! It covers how to hold the baby in many positions - and with pictures which I found essential! It went over signals and cues with great detail, including the different stages babies go through and how those signals and patterns change. Knowing what to expect really helped me make it through all the different stages my baby went through. It really is all about communicating with the baby, and what a fantastic journey this has been for our family. This book aslo has testimonials and stories from around the world and in the US, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Every child is different, even in the same family, and its great to see the many ways this method can be adapted for each child! It can be done with or without diapers, part-time or full-time, with support from your family or without. Just having the option to respond to this need, and teach a baby that a diaper isn't the only place to go has been a very positive part of bonding with my baby. Thank you Laurie for writing such a comprehensive book for people who have never heard of the method to learn all they can! The DVD Potty Whispering is also a fantastic additional resource, I highly recommend it as well as this great book!

Easy to Implement
From birth, our daughter (now 6 months) has been unusually upset by wet diapers. We've had her primarily in cloth from 2 weeks, but even in disposables she goes from fussy to irate screaming in a matter of minutes if she's not changed. We've noticed that she'll often start fussing when she isn't wet, for no apparent reason, and she'll be wet within 10 minutes (cue screamfest). She sounded like an ideal candidate for EC, so I ordered this book and a potty chair and started using the techniques yesterday afternoon. She used the potty chair 4 times the first day and 3 times today! And she seems more relaxed in between. Our goal is not to have a "diaper free" baby, but I am encouraged that we can learn to understand when she is telling us she needs to go, and offer her opportunities to go that can mimimize the time she spends in a wet diaper (before we leave to run errands, before a nap or bedtime, etc.). I'd give 5 stars for the book's techniques, and 3 for the way it is organized. The book repeats itself A LOT and the order of the chapters and sections does not entirely make sense to me. The photos are very helpful (though again, do not always appear in logical places). Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend to others who are interested in EC.

nice book, a little dated
this is a nice book to give you an idea of how you might go about infant potty training. unfortunately I didn't connect with it as much as I might have because the pictures and writing were and felt a little dated... so an updated version would be great, but all in all the information was helpful in moving forward with helping me think about how to support my LO in potty training.

Nice to have a hard copy
I was doing a lot of online research about EC. I didn’t think I would need a book. But being able to have a hardcopy to reference has been very nice. I’ve been very successfully ECing my three month old with the practices from this book.

This is a great for anyone who already follows the method as well as anyone who consider it. It is full of information, good tips and reassurance. Contains interesting studies from all over the world.

Good book. Only skimmed it so will edit this in due course. Was cool to show baby pictures of other parents pot-ting or pottying their little 'uns. : ) Think i just like the solidarity that many people do early potty training. In this proctor and gamble sponsored 'west', it's a relatively rare thing to a) practice elimination communication and b) to potty train by 1. Glad to have a copy. Will update when i have reas more of it..

I just received this book. The book is fine, info is good. I just find it's a bit expensive when half of the book is testimonials and it's filled with pictures of potty training babys and parents. It's 2020. We already have all of those online. I would prefer if it was a smaller book, cheaper, straight to the point with the method and tips.

I wished I didn't spend my money. I learned the same plus more googling online. The bulk of this book has living proof stories and a little cultural lesson.
