The only thing I don't like about it, is the nylon straps are very low quality, I'm sure they will degrade quickly, especially if you get caught in the weather often. However, with the way it's designed, it would be very easy to replace the straps with better ones if/when that time comes. Other than that, it's very easy to use, folds up compact and takes up very little space in my trunk. It's lightweight and easy to mount by yourself. The straps are plenty long enough for any car. The issue is that the top of the rear door on the XC's is made of extremely brittle fiberglass that can crack if anything (i.e. metal hooks or bike rack straps) is placed in the seem at the top of the rear door. We would recommend installing a receiver hitch on your vehicle and using a hitch mounted carrier. **Q: I have 2000$ bike, is it worth the risk?** A: It was fine for my $1,500 RadRover. It's good up to 70 pounds. What does your bike weigh? **Q: So this is a weird question, but I'd like to take my bicycle with me on my commute. Can I lock my bicycle to the bike rack using a typical bike lock?** A: You can, I did while I used one bike and left the other. However I noticed with my Prius at least, that the clips that holds the rack to the car can be removed (with some manipulation) without opening the hatch/trunk. So if someone was so inclined they could remove the rack and locked bike as one unit. It would take some time and probably look suspicious while they did it. It was easy to fold and put back into the trunk after we were done using it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy and durable bike rack, missing quick-attach feature *by G***P on May 12, 2024* This is a very well-built bike rack and I'm going to use it for a 6 hour road trip with 3 bikes. I tested it with a short trip to a local trail with two bikes and it performed well. Set-up was fairly easy. I just followed the directions and it was pretty simple to attach to my Honda CRV. Some reviewers complained about the metal hooks, but I found that they had a smooth coating on them that should keep you from scratching up your car in any way. Just be somewhat careful when attaching. Traveling to the trail I noticed a bit of a "squeaky" noise coming from the rack. I believe that may have been caused by the soft rack support "bumper" rubbing on the rear car window. A slight repositioning of the bikes for the return trip seemed to make this go away. I noticed no shifting or problems with the rack once we got to the trail. The bikes were still securely attached and I had even made some quick starts and stops and a few hard turns, but the bikes were solid. The only thing I don't like is the fasteners that hold the bikes onto the rack. Other racks I've used have a rubber "latch" that is quick and easy to lock the bike onto the rack. These holders require you to thread the strap through and back to attach the bike. It's not terrible, but kind of a pain to do something that used to take seconds and now takes minutes. Oh well. It's not a terrible drawback, but I knocked off one star for that design deficiency. Removal of the rack was quite easy. For each strap, simply lifting the latch on each strap seems to loosen it sufficiently to remove the hook from the car. The unit doesn't take up much space when removed from your car, so that's a big plus too. Overall this is a great value for the price.
