MANGO CHUTNEY 16 OZ (1 JAR)

If you are looking for a bright and tangy mango chutney, this is IT !!! I was happily surprised with the good amount of actual chunks of diced mango and the bright flavor it has. I do like a stronger ginger flavor, so I added ginger along with some raisins and mandarine oranges to add a little more sweetness. I use this over chicken and then bake, or I use it in cold chicken salad which is Great on a hot 99 degree Florida day! Again, this is more bright than spicy but it leads to a lot of options! I highly recommend trying this!

We recently moved to a new city with a new grocery store chain. Cannot get the same chutney I have bought for 20 years. I turned to Amazon and it was very difficult to decide which we would like based on reviews alone. I bought an assortment of all the top brands and happened to find this one based on a Reddit thread where it was recommended. Out of the several that we bought, this is the only one we would buy again. It is different from the one we are used to, but equally as good quality and flavor, if not better.

Major Gray used to have chunks of mango but no longer. I tried this hoping for mango pieces but no. It's also mild in flavor. So for those reasons I'm still searching. I know of some Indian markets 20-30 minutes drive and that might be the next try. Or else go down a few more pages on Amazon.

My family has never tried chutney before, but we saw some YouTube videos about chutney, and got interested in trying it as a condiment. Some of the previous customer reviews of this particular chutney complained that it wasn't spicy enough -- but that news was a plus for our cautious, "born to be mild" family. There's a generous amount of product in this jar, similar in size to many a jar of fruit preserves. The flavor seemed like a slightly fruity version of pickle relish (sweet relish, rather than dill relish). We don't really consume Indian cuisine at our house, but this chutney works great in so many other dishes, whether as a sandwich/burger/hot dog relish or as a stir-in with soups, stews, or a cup of ramen. It's more expensive than cheap supermarket chutney, but twice the quantity, thus making it a good value. And the mild flavor makes it a superb "starter" chutney for people who, like us, don't know whether or not they'll like chutney. Highly recommended!
