Great adapter with amazing speeds and strong wireless connection

Soooo apparently TP-LINK is not "The Reliable Choice" as they claim they are. Now I will admit I am also at fault here but I still believe the company is mostly to blame.I was really excited when I got this in the mail today. I got even more excited when I actually got to unbox and install it in my system. I was looking forward to no more dropped signals and faster speeds on wi-fi.All that excitement came crashing down after I booted up my system to find out I can't use this product because I am on Windows 10 and TP-LINK, "The Reliable Choice", has not released any drivers for Windows 10. Seriously it's been several months since Windows 10 (and its beta) officially launched for companies and developers to get their products working on the new OS. My old no-name company wi-fi adapter had their drivers ready for Windows 10 BEFORE IT LAUNCHED. This is just downright lazy on TP-LINK's part. As I said I will take some blame for not verifying the compatibility with Windows 10 but this really should've been taken care of a long time ago.I will say the product looks and feels nice and seems quite powerful. I'll give an actual review if they ever come out with the drivers but right now I am disgusted with this company. Now I'm stuck with what I consider right now "junk". I would give negative stars right now if I could.UPDATE 1Windows 10 drivers for this product released today and the results so far have been great! Changed my rating up to three stars since it actually works now. Will update again after some more testing.UPDATE 2It's been about a week I believe since Windows 10 drivers came out and I believe I can now give a decent review.I'll just keep this short and sweet. So far this product has been amazing. I haven't dropped signal despite the 3 bar connection I have on 5G (I have my desktop in a kinda bad spot to receive wi-fi). My speed jumped, according to speedtest.net, from ~35Mbps to ~220Mbps! 200 Mbps was the speed I've been paying for all along but could never take advantage of it. So despite being what I consider an early adopter and TP-Link's lack of Windows 10 support then, I now believe this product deserves 5 stars. I will definitely recommend this to friends trying to get high speeds.

Works great - no complaints - 802.11ac is great.

I loved the first one I bought so much I got another one for my daughter when she accidently broke the antenna off her old one (it was a different brand, not this one). This supports 802.11ac wireless - which is SO much better and faster than the 802.11n. I believe it is also backward compatible with the other ones as well (802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11b. and 802.11a). I would have never guessed my cable provide (AT&T Uverse) would provide me with a cable box that supports 802.11ac - but they did. So it allows for faster transfers of files between computers in the house. No longer do I need a wired connection for 1 gigabit transfer speeds (truth be told I usually only get around 900 megabits-per-second - but still that's darn fast for wireless. I don't know how many people reading this ever tried using 802.11n, but for me, it was worthless. I upgraded all my wireless stuff to 802.11n and ended up switching back to 802.11g because my 802.11n equipment would change speeds so much, I was never able to get a stable connection. Well, that's not a problem now. This 802.11ac stuff works great, it's stable, and it is VERY fast. I just opened up my WiFi status window and right now it's holding steady at 877.5 Mbps - no speed changing like 802.11n use to do. BUT be warned - I'm only about 30 feet away from my router on the same floor and according the manual, top speed is 1.3 Gbps (1300 Mbps) and I'm only at 877.5 Mbps - so it seems the speed drops pretty quick with distance - kind of the way 802.11n did but not as bad I don't think. Anyway, my point is, if you're going to be far from the source or have a lot between you and the source, you may have to factor in the cost of a wireless repeater that also supports 802.11ac if you want to achieve near-top speed - but try it first then decide if you need a repeater. Oh, and I'm using the 5.0 Ghz range - not the 2.4Ghz.

Windows 10 Support, Very Fast Card

So far so good. Install was a breeze but I also built my PC so take that into consideration. Seriously though...if your motherboard has a pci-e slot open then this should be a super easy upgrade. For those that may be wondering, I installed mine in a pci-e x8 slot (which is a lot longer than the pci-e card) and it works like a champ.Cons - there was no mounting screw in the box which was super annoying. Luckily I had some extras lying around or I would have not liked it very much.Pros - I am actually able to get the speeds that I am paying for now over wifi now. Holy smokes this is a fast card compared to the N card that it replaced. I pay for 75/75 FIOS. My N card was an alfa and was only able to get around 15-20Mb down because of my PC's location related to my wireless router. I plugged this card in and boom...over 90Mb down and 90Mb up like a boss. So also for reference I recently purchased an Archer C9 as well...but regardless, my N card connected to that router still only gave me 15-20Mb down regardless of channel that I was on.Windows 10.1 Pro is my OS and a gigabyte Z77X-UD3H mother board are the big things to know for compatibility.I read one of the reviews for this card from a while back where they said that they had to monkey with device manager or do something special with the driver install, but my driver install went beautifully. I went to the TP-LINK site in the downloads section and grabbed the windows 10 driver from there. Here's a tip that I've learned that you may enjoy...download your driver from the TP-LINK site before you disconnect your current wireless card (if you're not wired connection of course...but why would you be if you are installing a wireless card?).I download the driver from the site, as that way you get the most recent one and less bloatware from installation CD's.
