I hear if you open it up it's fake and has a black blob, is this true?

Yes they are fakes thanks for pointing that out that's good help I will be tossing them out. I just popped it opened and saw the blob/no Nintendo trade mark probably china bootlegs because it was made from rough thick plastic. I also noticed the sheet of instructions it came with had type writer font on glossy paper. I immediately transferred my saves to my official 59 block card which I could tell was real because I opened it and didn't see any black blobs and the Nintendo trade mark was there also the real ones have an extra plastic support to cradle the chip which was not relevant to fakes. Your best bet to get the official one is eBay used and don't worry about using it on Wii because all 1019 block cards are not usually known to dry out quickly from prone excessive use. I will be re-review this negatively buyers beware.

Why does the card corrupt?

Mine didnt corrupt any files yet. It wouldn't work with 007 Nightfire but all other games worked fine.

Yes, on the original model that supports the gamecube games, but you might want to make a habit of removing the card when not in use. The wii has been known to occasionally corrupt the memory cards, so not having it in the system all the time will decrease the chance.
