How can you really tell if something like this works? Who can feel a difference?Well, I can. I had tumors on my parathyroid glands removed and my calcium level went from 15 to 7 in a couple of days. I had to take 24,000 milligrams a day of this (2000mg every two hours 24/7) or every inch of my skin and muscle felt like your tongue does when you put a 9v battery on it. The symptoms were miserable and this was the only formulation that got into my blood stream effectively enough to control the symptoms. Calcium carbonates and even the slow release version of Citrical didn't work nearly as well. As a result of the disease, I now have osteoporosis and I will be taking this for years to come.

A dose of two large pills gives you 63% of your daily calcium. This sounds expensive and inefficient, until you consider the bio-availability of the calcium to be absorbed in your GI tract. This is 100% calcium citrate (don't be fooled by those that are only 5-25%) - it doesn't require excess stomach acids to dissolve and be absorbed like calcium carbonate does. The result is you are able to take it on an empty stomach and it remain effective. It doesn't disrupt stomach acid balance (i.e. does not act as an anti-acid like Tums). Additionally, this dose comes with over 100% of your vitamin D3 - critical to help your system make use of the bio available calcium. For me, these benefits (and higher cost of the form of calcium) warrant the higher product cost.

Changed my brand of calcium. Had heard so much about Citracal so decided to try it. Pills pretty large, but do have indentation so I can split them. Will see if this makes much of a change in my DEXA test.
