It is very sharp and has attachments and would hate to cut myself with this blade. I am going to be using this for diamond painting therefore I need it to cut out the paper from the area I will be working on. I think this is very durable, will last long and is a good value for the money spent. One thing that does bother mer though is that it doesn't have any safety measures in place such as the blade retracting into itself or the handle if danger is detected. I know it sounds silly but quite honesly its the only way to make this a safe product for anyone under adult age to use. I wanted to be able to cut washi tape without scissors, and to be able to trim off rough edges when the tape was already laid onto a planner or envelope. Thanks!** A: Hi pigsee - thanks for your question - the blade on the Precision Cutter is slightly longer vs. the Safety Cutter, so it has the capability to cut several more sheets at a time depending on the thickness of paper you cut ... assuming you're cutting standard printer paper it would be around 4 sheets maximum - or one or two sheets maximum of children's construction paper depending how hard you're pressing down. If you need the ability to cut deeper we would suggest using our 10518 craft blades. Hope this helps - thanks so much. // Team Slice // **Q: Can this cut through fabric?** A: Yes and No. If the fabric is thin and taught, or it is compressible, and there is an appropriate substrate beneath the fabric, yes it can. If not, no it can't. It is intended to provide a thin precise cut. If the fabric is thick it could prevent the small blade from cutting all the way through it or it could bunch up and bind. **Q: Can you cut through plastic stencil blanks** A: Hmmm....it cuts through acetate like butter but I am not sure about stencil plastics. For thicker items I usually go straight to my utility blades rather than attempt with this. I'm very happy with it as it can trim off edges without me worrying about cutting the paper below or getting extra washi tape stuck to a scissors blade. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ There's a learning curve as to the type of paper and the technique in using this cutter *by S***M on January 26, 2025* A few points that I am working out as I learn about this ceramic nib cutter: You need to be cutting a paper that is not a loose weave so to speak. I cut some thin-ish home made paper, and some paper that is newsprint weight. Both of these are not an dense, even press. Additionally you need to work on a surface that is firm. I tried using my bamboo crafting turntable. Between the "weight" and denseness of the paper and the bamboo wood of the surface under the paper I had some tearing. I had to go very slowly and precisely to lessen the tearing at small curves and corners. ... That said, the ceramic nib is small and that does help with the cutting as you go very slowly. Also go ahead and lift the nib of the knife and reposition for tight corners and curves. I am not sure what surface I should have under the paper I am cutting. Bamboo wood isn't a good choice. Metal would be too hard on the ceramic nib. Glass (like a glass cutting board) would probably be hard on the ceramic nib too. Again, technique is important (how much pressure you use, how slowly you go, and stopping and repositioning the nib all help this cutter work better. So, I took a star because this is certainly not like a super pointy exactly knife and is not simple to use.
