Riedel Cabernet Wine Decanter, Red Wine Decanter Crystal Glass 1440/13

So glad that I bought this decanter. Made well. It's a little delicate as in thin wallled glass, but that's due to the quality of the glass decanter. I always hand wash it, and place it in my china cabinet for safe keeping. I have used this decanter at least three times a week for my Italian, French, and California red wines. It will hold 750 ml bottle wines easily. It looks beautiful on my table. Decants superbly, And if I don't use all of the wine, it pours easily back into the bottle. It's a winner and well worth the cost.

I love Riedel. Their glasses and decanters are excellent. I definitely want to buy more from them. It’s a top-tier brand with fair pricing—I honestly wish everything I owned was from Riedel.

The glass is thin but not so thin as to worry about easily breaking it. With just a slight twist at the end, there is no dripping down the outside of the decanter. It looks elegant, not like something that belongs in the movie lab of a 1950's mad scientist. I do find it odd that a 750 ml bottle puts the widest part of the decanter exactly halfway between the bottom and the level of the wine. I get aeration is not the primary aim of this particular decanter, but why make any part of wider then where the top level of the wine would be, unless the idea is you would decant half a bottle at a time. It still gets plenty of air, really, just odd to give it the most air half way through drinking it. The shape makes it extremely easy to clean and even stick a dish towel into to dry--low maintenance was a high priority for me. Simple and practical, which is what I wanted.

Delicate, sturdy, and a great size. This decanter checks all of the boxes. It is elegant enough to use on a finely set table, yet simple enough to use everyday. Love it.

Arrived on time and we love Riedel glasses, so we decided to get the carafe for a Xmas gift. . It’s well packaged and beautiful.

This is an excellent decanter. It fits comfortably in the hand; my wife and I both find that in many cases it's actually easier to pour from this decanter than the original bottle. It's replacing a decanter that was much larger, and MUCH more difficult to manipulate. As a result, we weren't using it that often. With this Riedel, we're decanting much more frequently, which is a very good thing, especially since we drink a lot of younger (2009 or 2010) wines. (I should add that I also usually run the wine through a Vinturi when I decant it, so I'm not as concerned about the smaller surface area of this decanter. It's still much easier to run the entire bottle through the Vinturi into the decanter than trying to Vinturi individual glasses.)

This is my 2nd decanter. I've had a glass one for about 4 years that can easily handle (2) 750ml bottles, and while I love that decanter it seems too big when I only want to decant 1 bottle so I can have a glass or two. I decided to try the Riedel decanter after looking around a while because its diameter won't take up too much space in the cupboard and there were some decent reviews on it. My first impression was that it's really thin walled, but I guess that's a difference between crystal and glass (yes, I'm ignorant on that subject). However since I don't plan to drop it, it shouldn't be a problem. It seems perfect for (1) 750ml bottle which I pour through a decanting funnel to aerate it (I've uploaded a picture to show this decanter with a full bottle in it). After I have a glass or two, the neck of the decanter makes it really easy to pour the rest back into the bottle even without a funnel. So while you don't have the most exposed surface area with a full bottle, this is the perfect size for the dinner table to hold what's left after you've poured a couple glasses.

Use it almost everyday..love the style and fits my metal aeration funnel perfectly. Wide surface and open spout make this one my top pick for decanters.. glad I bought it, will buy again and wholeheartedly recommend it.
