However, I didn't see any good alternatives so I decided to give it a try. In my humble opinion the quality is fine. Yes some parts are plastic but so what? Nothing broke during installation and it looks great. The only way to break something during installation is if you don't understand how it goes together. Because it's a universal kit you have to be careful to choose the correct parts. The finish goes well with my other brushed nickel fixtures. I've been using this kit for a few weeks now and it still looks great. Review: An old Moen and you like brushed nickel?, here is where you'll inevidbly end up... - Have used these multiple times, of course seems a bit pricey for plastic when anything other than nickel in metal costs less. Moen apparently has a thing for this too as any older official Moen capable trim set in nickel will be $250-300. It's plastic, it works. If you don't beat up on it you'll be fine. I'm sure everyone wishes this was $35, but it's the same price EVERYWHERE. Regardless of the 'basic' materials you'll get it done without another trip looking for a bit-it's quite comprehensive. I've done multiples of these and end up with the crystal knob every time(older conversions always seem to leave the lever looking a bit too far out), so I can't comment on the durability issues I see with the lever. Great price point as well. Know thats it not metal but you cant tell the difference from the appearance. Works great in the shower all the same.
