Sonic the Hedgehog Archives, Vol. 1 Review: Shame Archie no longer has the rights - I remember this series from my childhood. It was a nice trip down memory lane Review: Memories brought back in a bite sized compilation - Deceitfully small (I was expecting it to be in it's original size), about the size of your average manga volume (with the exception of it's depth in pages), packs a nice collection of issues though (approx. four to each volume (not including the little extra bits here and there)). It was certainly a blast from the past though (corny dialogue, terrible illustration and all), makes me sad didn't have any appreciation for this kinda stuff when I was little (I believe I only have remnants of issue 3 laying somewhere near), at least now I (and possibly some other old collectors) have somewhat of a second chance for collecting them. Recommended to Sonic fans of all age and era. (except the ones who don't/can't care for the value of antiquity)

As a long time Sonic fan, I was very excited to receive these comics. The different characters are all great. Also, the stories and little jokes are really fun and entertaining! ^_^ I'd recommend the series to any Sonic fans, whether newbies or long term fans.

It's in good condition, so the physical book is really 5 stars. 8 outright stories are here from Issues 1-4. Half are good, but since some are outright great, and there's also some very short extra stories in there that I like, it's really more than 50% good, deserving at least an average rating. The short stories I like are I'd Like to Thank, Foiled Again, Two-Timer and Paper Trail. The first issue in general was creative and made sense . There’s a lot of things that impress me. Issue 2 bothers me. I started out loving it because of Sonic and Tails working together to cleverly defeat Coconuts and it went downhill from there, into pointless and annoying territory. If this is how Scratch and Grounder interact in the actual show, it's no wonder I usually hate it because just one issue of this repetitive, annoying arguing, is unbearable! Why would Eggman’s robots be able to interact like this?! This comes out of nowhere and just leaves me frustrated at Eggman’s stupidity. And it doesn’t help that, Sonic defeating these robots because of their stupidity, doesn’t make me impressed! It’s more like, he has a lucky break! I’m not really sure if I liked the next issue. But I liked the misunderstanding the first one was centered around. It was a reasonable mistake from Sonic overhearing only the last of what Eggman was saying. But Bunnie’s introduction could’ve been done a lot more naturally. Sonic made a stupid mistake for no reason, so Bunnie got a chance to flip the robot. For Issue 4, the first story has some nice action, even if Sonic shouldn’t have gotten all those Emeralds offscreen, but whatever. The shrink ray made of something from last issue was a brilliant twist instead of having a predictable ending. But the second story was just Tails being a moron!
