I have an external overflow box. can i put a poly filter up in there if i clip it to the inside wall (so no clog)?

I use mine in the filter area which is external. The water needs to flow through the filter before returning to the tank in order for it to work. You have to cut this pad to fit your filter system. I would not clip it to the wall of the filter box but lay it flat in the bottom. Hope this helps.

Why does the ad show the 12 X 12 size but not offer it for sale?

It’s a generic photo. Amazon does that sometimes. I haven’t found a good source for the 12x12 pads just yet.

Is this safe for an established reef aquarium?

After spending years in the hobby, both fresh and salt water, I can honestly say I can't think of another product that would be more useful or valuable to have on hand than the Incomparable poly pad! Along with Marine Pure bio media, and a good protein skimmer you could virtually run a tank safely without water changes indefinitely although I would never recommend doing so the product is just that good at keeping a clean chemically balanced tank.

Can it be used in a fluval fx6 canister filter ?
