Help your child do his/her best on the COGAT! Donโt risk your son or daughter being unprepared and underperforming on test day. Your child must be familiar with test material AND be able to focus for longer than the typical 4-5 minute attention span of most young kids. This book offers a chance to do both. Ensure your child is ready for test day, thanks to this bookโs 200+ practice questions. Make sure (s)he has acquired the mental stamina to focus on test questions with the bookโs COGAT Level 5/6 Practice Test (the bookโs โPractice Question Setโ). Pinpoint your childโs areas of strength/weakness with the practice test answer key. Capture your childโs attention with bright, colorful illustrations and fun characters: full-color pages. Help them pass the test, thanks to thorough coverage of the COGAT Level 5/6 test sections: Picture Analogies, Picture Classification, Sentence Completion, Figure Analogies, Figure Classification, Paper Folding, Number Analogies, Number Puzzles, and Number Series. (Note: If your child will take the COGAT, please do not purchase our stand-alone OLSAT book also (they contain similar material). Instead, you should select this book and our 'Gifted and Talented Test Preparation' book.) Engaging young and boisterous minds with test prep is challenging - thatโs why this book features fun characters, child-friendly themes, and colorful illustrations. Such engagement can help kids retain the information theyโll learn in this book โ and then apply it on test day! What are your kidโs dreams โ to be a doctor, engineer, or astronaut? Gaining acceptance to a G&T program or selective school could determine your childโs educational path โ or even his/her future career. Help your child dream big and take the first steps on this exciting educational journey and achieve their dreams. YOU are your childโs best teacher, and this book is here to help! Review: Great practice book - I really like this book. It is bright and colorful and should be very easy for the child to follow. My K child, also enjoys the workbook, she will go through multiple pages without complaint or prompting. Each 3rd of the book is dedicated to a different test, but the problems are very similar across the test headings, that many should find the whole book useful regardless of which test your district uses. I don't think you can really study up for a gifted test, but you can certainly ensure that your child has a familiarity with the kinds of questions they will see on the test. This book will help with that, which should help with errors that can occur just because what they will see, may be like nothing they've done before. The exposure to similar test questions, in a home environment, should also help with kids that are naturally anxious in test taking situations. Although there is no way to tell if this will have had any impact chiild's score, since this will be her first time being tested, I will update once her scores are in. Review: Lots of fun with this one - I am so bored of all those books with letters and numbers to trace. This book contains a series of logical games. Youโll be teaching your kid concepts like sequencing and categories. Obviously youโll need to help them up, if anything to so that they understand the prompt, so if you donโt have the time books arenโt the best medium to have your child learn. Also fun to see how they think. You can learn a lot by seeing your child learn

This works!
I am so happy with this purchase. My son and I worked on this prior to his GT test and he was selected for the GT program at his school. At first, I thought that the questions may be too difficult for him, but they were not, and the directions were easy to follow. The illustrations in the book were great. I would highly recommend this book for your young child. This book helped my son prepare for the test and he was confident going into it because he was prepared. Thank you so much to the authors!

Good practice book
My son is 4 year old, and many questions are quite challenging for his age, and I donโt think he got the logics for those questions even I explained to him. Iโm going to have him redo the book after we go through all the questions.

I would recommend
My son is in first grade and we purchased this book to help him study for his GT test. The questions for this test are structured in a way, that if you have never done it before, can be confusing. So this book helps you and the child get used to these types of questions/thinking. My son took the test over the summer and failed it. We purchased this book and studied it. He then took the test again before the beginning of the school year and He passed it! So, I would highly recommend this book.

Great book
I used this book as one of the resources to prepare my child for the cognitive assessment for early kindergarten, and she passed. Definitely don't regret buying it.

Great introduction to different types of questions
The illustrations are very nice in this book. Nice introduction to the types of questions. There's a little storyline about the "Gifted Detective Agency" which I wish just said "Detective Agency" because this is a Kindergarten level book and I don't want to put pressure on my son with the concept of giftedness. I'd rather he just see it as a fun learning book. It's not too hard to work around that though and given everything about the quality of the book, I highly recommend it! The first half introduces the question types with examples and the second half is a practice exam. It really is just an introduction, I don't think this alone (or any book really) is going to increase chances of scoring higher on gifted tests.

Average Resource
I reviewed the book before I worked with it with my preschooler. I had to put serious thought into some of the questions. Others were way too easy. To maximize the benefits of the book, a parent or adult should regularly offer feedback to the child, explain why the answers are what they are, and not let the child work through the entire book alone. Flipping back and forth in the book was cumbersome. Also, for the price, there should be more content.
