Don't let the can turn you off this cod roe is yummy especially on a sandwich
So I have to admit that the can itself left a lot to be desired with its World War 2 presentation. I quickly gave up on the key - lock tab opening. I was going to take a quick taste and chuck (that is how low my expectations were) And the first tiny bite was uneventful and then I remembered that a reviewer had mentioned a small squeeze of lemon. I am not quite sure what happened after my second pressed cod roe sandwich but I do remember thinking I need another can of this stuff.... Sadly it is to expensive for more frequent sandwich's but this stuff is really good

WTF
WTF is this! Bought many cans over the years, including from Amazon, and hitherto exactly the same as bought in UK before we immigrating to the US. Has been unavailable for a year or so, so being overjoyed to see it available and bought it again. Normally would have bought 4, 6, 8 cans but as the price was ridiculously high (thankfully) bought just one. Today, we starred it our favorite recipe for it and is was absolutely aweful! Wet, soggy, and devoid of texture and taste that we have enjoyed over 40 years. WILL NEVER BUY IT AGAIN.

It’s expensive for amount you get
Not a lot of flavor

Bad recipe or bland cod roe
I hate to give this a bad review because it is very possible that I had a bad recipe. I was trying to make Taramosalata and the finished product was very bland. I've never made it before, but there was no cod roe taste at all.

Great taste, creamy texture
I liked the taste, texture and light saltiness. The pressed cod roe can be used as snack or appetizer on the cracker or ryes bread toast with a slice of pickle. Little expensive though.

cod fish roe
Great❗❗ Was what I expected. I used to buy codfish roe from This country in the 60s. At that time it was not an import. Of course, I'm thankful to amazon for their dealing in it. Tastes like I remember.

Save your cash
Do not purchase. Taste like cat food but with less taste. I have been a long amazon prime member and was excited about this product as I am a big foodie and waited the perfect time to bring out to guests for dinner. Very bland...i was under impression it would taste like pressed caviar but not even close. I tried to return and they closed the request without even asking what the problem was. Save your money for the real thing, or if you like this stuff, try a different brand. My cat will enjoy the remnants I froze.

Not what I expected but it worked :)
I bought this to make tarako spaghetti. At first I wasn’t sure if it was going to work - it didn’t taste salty enough, the color was not as pink and the texture out of the can was like pate. After a lot of stirring and pressing to break it up in the sauce, the flavor works just fine. The can is a good size so I froze most of it in a small glass jar - I didn’t want it to go bad as it says on the can it only lasts about two days in the fridge.
