I just got them in the other day and the first thing I did was try it out with one of my ferro rods and some dryer lint. It worked just fine. I got decent sparks with the first strike. They're very lightweight and easy to hold. I haven't had a chance to use the rounded scraper in the end nor the bottle opener. But given the ridges in the rounded area it looks like it would scrape material fine from fatwood or the like.
