what are the dimensions of this pan?

Mine measured at 4 7/8" (width) x 8 7/8" (length) x 2 5/8" (deep) inside measurements. Bear in mind that it tapers like a loaf pan should so these measurements are at the widest opening.

I love cast iron but I'm a little concerned about how brittle it can be. Any problem with the accumulated effects of the loaf-removing "tap"?

I've had no issues with this pan becoming brittle at all. The loafs slide right out of the pan. As with any bread making, grease (I use lard or butter) your pans prior to putting in your dough for the final rise and it slips right out with a great crust. Let the pan cool before washing, which isn't really necessary for the bread application, dry and re-season as needed. I've converted most of our cooking to cast iron and love it.

What oil is it seasoned with? Very important to know

It took decades of experimentation, but I learned the perfect way to season a cast iron pan. Crisco is without a doubt the best seasoning. Spread a light layer of Crisco all over the pan and wipe down with a paper towel, so all you see is the shine of the Crisco. Then put in oven at 550 deg F. Let season for 40 minutes and you're good to go. Re season after each use when the pan is new. Once the pan is seasoned well enough, re-season every three to four uses.

Not sure .... I no longer have the box that it came in and the pan itself has no "Made in .... " marking.
