EZRED B7946 3-Point Mini Wire & Cable Crimper

I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube on DIY Solar Builds and one of the people I follow recommended to use an impact based 3-point crimper like this EZRED. I have standard plier style crimpers that can do anything from 20 to 6AWG, but I wanted to have something to do big duty 2/0 cable connections. This was definitely the answer. When I first received it, I was impressed at how heavy and beefy it was. It's basically a solid block of steel. It uses a 3/8" drive so any decent impact driver will work. I actually prefer to use the driver on the lowest torque setting so it doesn't obliberate the connector. It doesn't take much force to crimp 4, 6, 8 AWG cable at all. Just a light tap of the trigger on your impact will do the job. Another thing is that you must absolutely have a vice to get this gripped to. But that's a basic tool that any man should have. Anyway, I'm glad that mine came in matte black and not the silly blue color as pictured and I'm really excited to use this to do all my big crimps for my solar build.

Love using this in an emergency, but works great with impact after greasing up threads with engine assembly lubricant. Prefer over any of the hand hydraulic cable lug crimpers I own. Would buy again if lost.

I plan to make a holder for this thing. Trying to hold a wrench in one hand to keep it from turning and a ratchet in the other you have no hands left to hold the wire and connector. But it works great once you get it ready. You control the amount of pressure unlike the giant set of crimpers that only close so far. You could put a socket on a battery driver if you needed the extra power. And it's nice and small if you need to take it with you for any reason. It's simple yet effective.

This crimper is awesome. I used to use a hydraulic type crimper that I purchased at a discount tool store you may have heard of. What I like about this crimper is that it fits many different lug types without changing anything. I have crimped from really small sizes like 10ga and up to 0ga so far with not a single issue. I use my Makita impact driver to tighten down and crimp.

Great little tool to add to my arsenal. The tool gives professional-level crimp results that are sturdy and won't come apart. I used this to crimp the ends from the Fastronix Military Spec Battery Terminal Top Post Kit and both kits worked very well together. In my case, cutting the corroded ends off my battery cables and re-crimping them was the way to go; I had lots of slack to work with, and ended up with a new tool for my kit. :)

I have had this cable crimper for nearly a year. It is rugged and will serve me for many years to come. ive used it on cable from 6 gauge to 0000 gauge. no complaints. I Lock it down in a bench vice and use a ratchet or in impact driver. works well either way. if i had to buy another one.. I would, but im sure this will last a lifetime.

The other reviews are correct, it comes unpainted and rusts very easily, which is definitely misleading. The biggest issue is that it's way overpriced. There's no reason this should be more than double the price of the hammer versions - especially because it comes unfinished. It is easier to use and better than most of the alternatives, but the lack of any finish is annoying.

Used this Grimper now for a good month. Mostly with large and very stiff and hard to Crimp Cables (95 + 108mm2). This crimper works great, but asks quiet some Force. However you will need t span it into Vice (at least with large Cables). The Force you have to create is just to much to do it in Free Air. (I use a small portable Vice - so Crimping can be don at most places).

I have different crimpers. This one works well on the vehicle where hammer style will not work because you can't support it. This is expensive but worthwhile and built strong, its the only crimper you will need. Recommended 10 stars.

Use with my 3/8” electric impact. Easy connections.
