Darkness to Light: A Memoir [Odom, Lamar, Palmer, Chris] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Darkness to Light: A Memoir Review: This Book is so Raw and Honest. I loved it. - I am not a fan of sports, at all. But I was interested in this humble man's story ever since I visited a Beverly Hills doctor who said Lamar was the most humble and kind famous person he had ever met. This book kept me wanting to read more and more. It is written very well and is an easy read. By the end of the book it had me in tears. I only read biographies and memoirs and this is one of the best ones I have read. It's simple, yet capturing, which I loved. I have read books by many famous people also with interesting lives, however, they weren't able to bring that across in their book. Not the case with this one, Lamar did a great job. Thank you for the beautiful read and for letting us in your head and heart, even if only for a moment. Review: Not done yet but Great so far! - Love it! Not done with it just yet but I can already tell it's a true gem. Heartfelt and sincere! Not his biggest fan (cause I'm not super into sports) but I love true story's and the story behind the person. He had an addiction I want to understand and he completely explains it in this book and it takes a strong person to admit his wrongs and why. I respect this book and glad I bought it! So far amazing!!!

Gripping Memoir
I didn't know what I would get when I started reading this book. Surprisingly, it grabbed my attention from the first page until the last. Lamar delves into the trauma and pain he experienced at a young age. Some of those experiences included his father being a drug addict and having post-traumatic stress disorder from being a Vietman vet; his father physically abusing his mother; his mother being diagnosed with cancer and dying when he was only twelve; being treated as a commodity by many of the adults in his life, etc.. Unfortunately, Lamar never learned how to express or process his emotions in a productive way, so he tried to numb the pain with drugs and sex. As a result of his past experiences and the way he was treated by the people around him, Lamar was rarely held accountable for his actions. This led to a life where he mostly blamed other people for his downfall and hardships when the person he needed to blame was the one staring at him in the mirror. Lamar didn't live a life of integrity when it came to his personal relationships or his career. Eventually, he had to deal with the consequences of his behavior as his life eventually began to fall apart. There were times when it seemed like Lamar tried to present himself in a favorable light but that isn't necessarily how those around him perceived him. As someone who has dealt with addicts before, I've noticed that they often lack self-awareness and their memory or depiction of certain events may not be completely accurate. I kept that in mind as I read the book. For anyone who has had a relationship with an addict - whether it be a relative, friend, or partner - they will definitely recognize some of the behavior demonstrated by Lamar throughout his life, such as making nonsensical decisions, the paranoia, the lies, the lack of dependability, the narcissism, the self-destruction, the delusions, the ridiculous expectations put on other people, etc... Chris Palmer did a great job co-authoring this book. It was easy to read and once I started it, I couldn't put it down. As a basketball fan, I heard about Lamar from the time he attended the University of Rhode Island with Cuttino Mobley. I followed his career and his meteoric rise in fame once he married into the Kardashian family. I enjoyed reading this book because it gave me more insight into his life and why he made certain decisions. Lamar still has a tough road ahead of him but I'm wishing him the best.

Incredible/Raw/Transparent/Encouraging
How extremely brave for Lamar to open up an share his story. Often times we are so busy trying to save face an keep up with appearances an what we feel others expect us to be we loose ourselves. THANK GOD we don't have the final say we do however have Grace an Mercy. I am positive Lamar has gone through his ups an downs so that he can do what he is doing now helping someone else who is right now at a crossroads just by sharing his story. Thank You Lamar, I can assure you I am praying for you an if anybody knows the power of prayer it's me! Great no EPIC book

1st half was really good
The 1st half of the book really flowed well. It was fascinating reading that part of Lamar's life. Then he met cocaine. Lamar's inability to take any bit of responsibility for his actions was really disappointing. That man blamed everything around him. Typical addict mindset. I hope he finds peace one day, because he's not there yet. Lamar is still spiritually broken. If he's not, the writer's did a horrible job of conveying that to the reader. All in all it was a good 100 pages and then it was hard to read about his continued spiral into spiritual hell.

If u like Odom and basketball, great
I’m always for the underdog! Plus I liked Odom and the Lakers. I knew his history so when he almost died, I was praying. The book is almost sitting w him as he tells his life! Lamar is a great guy I believe and he hit rock bottom to dig himself back up! We all make bad choices in life, few get to realize a change is needed! Loved it!

Lamar is a great person that's loved by so many people.
I loved the fact that Lamar was so open and honest about his Journey. Even through the roughest times of his life, he didn't hole nothing back. Even though lamar had a very rough time as a child and as adult he was loved by Soo many people around him, he just didn't realize it, because he thought he was all along after his mom passed away. Everyone knew Lamar was a great person that was dealing with a lot of demons. He just gotta keep pushing forward and Breathe Stretch Shake and Let It go and let the people around him love him. I'm Praying 🙏 for U Lamar. U got this. 💓💓💓

Wow I’m pleasantly shocked.
So I’m one of those people Lamar talks about that only knows him from his stint on the Kardashians. But I have to say I knew from the first time I read about him and Khloe that I loved him. I have demons of my own and saw them in Lamar. I still loved him. I rooted for their love and this book makes me love him even more. I had no idea of his past and I enjoyed and cried while reading about it. This was an amazing book, he is an amazing man. Read it.
