HITOP 50W Adjustable Aquarium Heater, Submersible Fish Tank Heater Thermostat with Suction Cups for 8-16Gal

Works as expected. I use it for my chickens. I have their water in a 5 gallon bucket with those little orange nipple valves installed on all sides. I have this thing cranked up to 90 degrees and amazingly it keeps the water and the valves from freezing even when the temp dropped down to -9 degrees F. outside. So the chickens can get to their water on days when a water bowl freezes solid inside of a couple hours.

Update: the HITOP team reached out to me immediately after writing this review, and offered a full refund for the broken product. They then reached out again to offer a brand new heater to replace the broken one. The team has been wonderful to work with, and they go the extra mile to help customers feel satisfied. I’m sure I got a faulty heater in the original package, as it was no fault of HITOP, but I so appreciate they made things right. The new heater works phenomenal. Original: After 9 years my original tank heater for my 10 gallon kicked the bucket. As I was going to redo my tank anyways, I ordered this heater but used two 5 gallon rated heaters for the mean time. Those two were able to keep the tank at a consistent 78° while the room is usually 68-69. Unfortunately I think I got a faulty heater as the light turns red but the heater itself is never warm, and my tank is getting colder.

Build quality is amazing. The temperature is accurate. The value for money is economical. It’s easy to set up. I works really well, I love it. I use it on my 10 gallon tank and it keeps it warm. I bought the 50W.

Works as it should, small and fits perfectly in the back of my Flex9 tank.

Cheaper and WAY better than aqueon

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS! I just had a devastating loss in my tank because this thing decided it wanted to get hot and melt all all the plastic clips. It probably shocked my entire tank! I just did a water change on my 10 gallon tank. I always shut down my heater, filter, and air bubblers. Once the water gets high enough to cover the heater, I start everything up again. Jesus, I had just put the last gallon of water in the tank and all I could see was smoke. I thought it was my light, but it was coming out of the water because everything was melting. I switched the main power button on my surge protector. My fish started flopping and sinking to the bottom. I had a net that I was able to catch a few tetra fish that were at the top. My shrimp darted to the top of the tank, then nose dived to the bottom and turned upside down. I am so upset right now. I just lost 5 fish and a dozen shrimps. Probably will lose my assassin snails and two other tetra fish that I was able to get out of my tank. I have several pest snails that are now laying on their sides that will probably die. But those are not such a big deal. I spent nearly 6 months on this tank getting everything right. I just didn't have a heater, and opted for this one because of all the "Wonderful Reviews". Don't do it people. I am adding photos, not of my fish that were loss.

I got the 50W for my 7.5 gallon tank. I’ve never had a problem with this heater. It’s always heated my water to my desired temperature. The only thing I would suggest is to monitor your water temperature within the first couple hours of introducing the heater as it needs some time to adjust.
